In the picturesque hills of central Victoria a community will have to wait twice as long for its Fire Brigade or other emergency services because their bridge has been closed. Kirwan’s Bridge was built in 1890 over the Goulburn River and links the community of Kirwan’s Bridge (about 100 houses) with its closest town, Nagambie about 5 km away.  The Shire of Strathbogie closed the bridge because it can no longer afford to maintain it and has not been able to source funding from either State or Federal governments.

Locals are faced with an extra 40 kilometres round trip on a dangerous slippery road where the average speed is lucky to be 40 kph. The bridge, a unique heritage listed tourist attraction, was also part of a wider link to towns in the northwest of the region.

The Minister for Nothingness, Mr Albanese, has been called on by many shires including Strathbogie to provide infrastructure funding, but not surprisingly has found nothing in the cupboard.

The Australian people are now seeing the extravagance of such things as the Julia Gillard Memorial Halls program where school halls are built at three times the cost where they were never really asked for; while in other areas, things that are really needed like bridges, go without.

Millions have been wasted on school buildings in the area, including the obvious overspend on just one class room that cost $850,000, but they didn’t notice that the bus can’t get to the school. This just shows how illogical the Labor Party can be. It’s centralised bureaucracy at its crazy best which simply delivers more frustration and anger.

"Frustration and anger" I totally agree with you, Barnaby.
Labor doesnt even give a second thought to rural Australia...unless of course there is a "couple of votes in it"!!
This morning "the ratbag, void, waste of time MSM"...the news of the morning was.. "How the invaders on boat's,mental state were fairing"!!..as they were "locked up for extended periods of time" and how damning it was to their well being.!!!!
Oh please...Im really over all this propaganda shit.!!
As you have stated here......what of ordinary Australians who cant even conduct "their normal/day to day lives" ..no infrastructure spending due to the gigantic waste of spending by the States and Federal govns.
What of the "mental state " of ..
"Our" homeless and unemployed in our cities and towns..
"Our" people needing mental health assistance...
"Our" farmers who are getting screwed mentally and financially ..and driven off their land.....to plant trees.!!
"Our" charity organisations ..trying to provide food and services for people already living here ...
People are being "shot emotionally" over the issue of "boat people"..
Has anyone considered some of these people are a security risk ??? ...proving they arn't is almost impossible.
If all the "do gooders" want to do something really worthwhile ...start fighting over "everyday issues" in support of "everyday" Australians.

shannon:

The Greens are the main group who need to staunch the flow from their bleeding hearts on issues such as "boat people". That's where you'll find most of the lunatics.

Since the Labor Party has locked us into a worldwide redistribution of both populations and wealth, we can expect our standard of living to decline further, and far more boat people to arrive as time goes by.

A few years ago, I donated $50 worth of food to tsunami victims in Sri Lanka. Now I'm having to do the same thing for our own homeless and destitute people.

On Monday morning I spent $10 on bags of rolled oats and rice, just as the man (volunteer) came to empty the Food Bank cage outside Woolworths. When I came back in the afternoon, there were only 10 items in the cage. On Tuesday afternoon, the number had risen to about 30 at Woolworths, and when I looked at the cage outside the Supa IGA, it only had about 20.

It would appear that we here in Brisvegas are getting sick of picking up the shortfall, after rents and housing prices have gone through the roof, and unemployment benefits have not been increased.

Throughout the last 2 years, I have knitted my fingers almost to the bone at my own expense, to help the thousands of people living in dire poverty, when I am living on a very low income myself.

The primary aim of getting rid of farmers from their land is not to "plant trees". Impounding land and planting trees are just part of the method.

Once large corporations have taken over the land, they will probably be allowed to do whatever they like, since they more-or-less already "own" us.

Now you're going to love this! A large corporation wants to take over the collection of speeding fines, so big business can line its pockets further, and the Queensland State government can send itself into receivership.

On "Landline" last Sunday, someone said that quite a bit of grazing land has already been turned over to cropping. I'm sure this will make The Greens very happy. In Queensland they are receiving large sums of money from Anna Bligh to get people onto a Low Carbon Diet (no red meat).

According to recent polling, it would seem that we could end up with an LNP/Greens coalition after the upcoming election.

Liberals are polling the highest, with Greens not far behind.

Tomorrow Julia Gillard will be doing the National Press Club address. Today we had to put up with Bob Brown pushing some of his recidivist ideas and praising up his candidates and senators, several of whom were sitting in the audience.

I would like to see Barnaby do the address some time, instead of more and more of these Green corporate neo-communists who belong behind bars for acts of treason!
