The Labor Party’s messiah, right wing Union boss Bill Shorten, has this morning dropped a clanger on Nine’s Sunday program on the operations of the ALP and the inception of his political career.

When queried about the benefits of branch stacking and his pre-selection for the safe Labor seat of Maribyrnong, Mr Shorten said “branch stacking was in the eye of the beholder” and further justified it by saying that there are other political parties that are also involved in branch stacking. This maybe self-evident, but it’s like saying there are others being deceitful, I’m just joining in.

This appears to lay in sharp relief to his musings of the honour of union representatives at Beaconsfield and certainly left me scratching my head with disbelief.

From little things big things grow. In saying that, if his career started with branch stacking, the manipulations of the true views of the members of his electorate for his own personal ambitions, one will be fascinated to see what other manipulations of a fair democratic process his personal ambitions will justify now and in the future.
