Mr Tanner today in the chamber appears concerned that I have “been abducted by aliens”. I must say this is starting to follow a certain character trait for a person who last time presumed I was “a bearded lady”. I have to keep reminding myself he is a senior office holder in the government.

However the essence of his question appears to be that we haven’t been keeping up our work rate in pursuit of Labor. For the man who admitted himself that he doesn’t “dot the i’s and cross the t’s”, I am happy to inform him that in the past 24 hours we have put out two media releases, one involving an analysis of 15 years of debt in Australia, another one alluding to a complete lack of management and expertise that is condoned by the Labor government and exemplified by the ceiling insulation debacle.

Mr Tanner is the Minister and in the last 24 hours he has put out nothing. The last week he has put out nothing. In fact the last media release he put out was on the 15th February. Mind you there’s not a lot lately he may wish to talk about.

Mr Tanner really does have the form of a person who doesn’t “dot the i’s and cross the t’s”. Mr Tanner’s attributes are well reflected in our national debt; rolling grand visions and wondrous promises as the ship of state takes water.

If you have any doubts, see my last media release.

Hmmm, the matter of aliens takes me back to our migrant intake for 2008/2009 financial year. It seems we have 700 new settlers of unstated origin.

Maybe some of them have fallen off the back of a truck, or dropped in from outer space.

It doesn't seem as if the Labor Party would care if foreign debt rose to a level that would sink the Titanic.

They also don't seem to care where pink batts and steel for their projects are coming from, just as long as they are not Made in Australia.
