The National Party is on the ascendancy in its campaign to stop the ETS. Public opinion has overwhelmingly turned against this massive new tax. We have not yet won the battle so everyone must keep the pressure up over the weekend. Every Senator must make the call on whether they support working families or whether they support the ETS.

Sign the petition, stop the ETS.

Get the names of your state's Senators and email each one of them to ask if they are voting for or against the ETS.

Dear Mr Joyce,
Please please keep up the fight for the future of our wonderful country.
MrTurnbull is surely mistaken when he stated on 7.30 report tonight that he had only received just over 100 emails against the ets.
That man is so out of touch with the general public, and we feel our hands are tied except for the wonderful senators, I don't know who he is listening to. He and his party will pay at the polls.
Bring on an election.

Sir,
Even if global warming from carbon emissions were a proven fact, the ETS is not the answer. A tax that carries provisions for avoidance and concessions for the main polluting industries will have no effect other than to price Australia out of all export markets and will result in intolerable hardship for all but the lucky few. What we need is a world re-think on the generation of power, the scrubbing of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from industrial emissions (transport, cement and steel are majors here), and a drastic reduction in our dependence on exports of coal, gas and iron ore to China - the world's greatest polluter. While we continue these exports every other measure is an exercise in futility.

Dear Senator Joyce.
I take my hat off to you and the Nationals because you stood against this abomination right from the start. Being an ex ALP member I do not find it easy to vote conservative and have voted independants ever since I turned away from the ALP because of the disgust I developed following Paul Keatings stint as PM. I can only hope that Turnbull and Rudd comes the cropper that they deserve as they try to keep up to the Lemmings in their rush to destroy the economy of our country. Keep up the fight and lets hope you can win this one.
Yours,
Graeme

. I am deeply concerned how there has been no debate allowed by the Rudd Government. No proper scrutiny and analyzing of figures etc have been done. The Liberals seem to be in a complete mess. It concerns me how Mr. Rudd wants this rushed through before Copenhagen, why? Anything that does not allow proper debate worries me. What is Mr. Rudd trying to hide? What is the cost going to be for Australia and Australians, especially if other countries decide to take on a token gesture towards ETS. This current government is a very big worry. It seems if they want to plunge Australia into a very deep recession, one which we can never recover from.

I believe that next week will bring something good to the Country and the coalition.
If the Liberals support this bill, your party should contest all the seats for both houses of Parliament and there will be lot of serprises.

Dear Barnaby - This ETS must be stopped at all costs. It is deeply flawed and if implemented will wreak this country's economy, jobs and impose an unfair tax on those who can least afford it. Rudd is moving prematurely before the Copenhagen Conference. A conference that has not even decided what the rest of the world is going to do. It will drive our companies to move off shore where there is no ETS in place.....and in turn take thousands of jobs with it. It imposes a massive tax on pensioners, the disabled, the unemployed and self funded retirees. In my view the ETS is nothing but a giant tax rort by governments. The ETS (unless combined with serious population reduction) will do nothing for the planet. I have listened to scientists that say IF China attains to what we have in the West it will take 4 planet Earths to feed the Chinese dragon. That does not include India and other emerging economies in Africa. Australia is so miniscule in the wider scheme of things, a minnow.........why is Rudd so hell bent on destroying the lives of people who cannot afford to pay?? It just doesn't make sense. I am so disapointed by the Liberal stance in all this mess. If they vote in this ETS I will not be voting Liberal federally ever again...that will now go to the Nationals. I voted for the Nationals at the last State election for Rob Messenger. Alas, Anna Bligh won.....and now we are paying!

Our household does not want this monstrous new tax - we cannot afford it.

Rudd and Wong are not being up front with the Australian people. They hide behind rhetoric like, "We must take action on Climate Change" but NEVER say that this 'action' involves hitting every household with a tax on everything.

Block the tax and go to the next election with a vigorous campaign to inform every Australian exactly what this tax really is.

I sent emails today to National Party and Liberal Party Senators in NSW requesting that they stand against Rudd's new tax. Interestingly only National party senators (or their office) replied to my emails. Nothing .... zip from the Libs. Are they in touch with their constituents or not?

I know where my below the line Senate votes will be going next year.

Keep up the good work Barnaby ... we need people like you who will stand up for ordinary Australians against these ideologists and bankers.

Sorry Mr Joyce
Public opinion, has not turned. Why did you lose the last election? The tax is an excellent way to reduce CO2 entering our air. Your lack of educating your own in these blogs shows your own negligence. The tax is a disincentive to produce CO2. The ideas is easy if you let your poor mislead followers know. The idea being that high CO2 producing industries, will work out ways of decreasing CO2 production and increase CO2 capture. With time, and technology the "massive Tax" will become a minor tax. Why? Because of the financial gains not to polute. Why is it so hard mate? Or is it that you want it to be hard?? Any coal or car or petrol companies funding your party?????

THE IDEA THAT ANY GOVERNMENT COULD IMPOSE YET ANOTHER TAX ON EVERY INDIVIDUAL, IS REPULSIVE TO MOST...ONE DEAR SENIOR-CITIZEN CALLED THIS THE "CARDIO-PULMONARY-RESUCITATION STAT", THEN EXPLAINED SHE NEARLY HAD A NEED FOR THIS PROCEDURE ON HEARING OF YET ANOTHER TAX.....!!! LET US BE PERFECTLY CLEAR, PEOPLE ARE DOING THEIR LEVEL BEST TO REDUCE ENERGY CONSUMPTION..THE GOVERNMENT IS PUNISHING THEIR EFFORTS WITH THIS C.P.R.S. SURELY TO GOD WE ARE MORE INVENTIVE THAN WHAT WE ARE BEING SLAPPED IN THE FACE WITH HERE......I WILL CLOSE BY SAYING THERE ARE SOME VERY SAD STORIES OF HARDSHIP IN MY TRAVELS OF THE ABOVE TWO POSTCODES...THE THOUGHT OF ANY MORE TAX IS SOUL- DESTROYING TO MANY..ON THIS SUBJECT IT IS AKIN TO ' A SLAP IN THE FACE" FOR EVERYONE'S DAILY, CONSTANT EFFORTS TO REDUCE CONSUMPTION, ACROSS THE BOARD......THANKYOU BARNABY FOR YOUR EFFORTS, Jeanie

Who will benefit from the creation of new gobal tradable exotic financial products?

Turnbull is still determined to push this ETS deal through the Senate on Monday! How? If the Greens back the Government on the 3rd reading then they only need two Wet Liberal Senators. There are more than 2 Wet Liberal
Senators who will not win preselection again and you know who they are!

That is why the LPA party room vote will be on Tuesday.

Scientists have a vast range of data from different area's of science in different countries, in studies that are put up for peer review that provide evidence for the subtle yet unrelenting nature of climate change from icecap melting to sea temperatures (The sea level has risen 1.8 mm per year since 1961 and the rate is accelerating), to ice core CO2 measurements, to bleaching of coral reefs. The Earth's average surface temperature has risen 0.74 degrees Celsius since 1900, evidence of animals and habitats changing at drastic rates. Scientists are merely the messangers and they would much rather global warming did not exist because their kids are going to suffer because of it too. Thousands of emails were leaked, and the few lines that sound so manipulative have been taken out of context, just like a few lines in anyone's diary or emails could be taken out of context. For instance the number of times I have flippantly said of my kids "i'm gonna kill them", if such a statement was blasted over the front of newspapers would turn me into a most dangerous parent!!

For instance the "trick" focussed on by the UK media refers to tree ring data used by scientists as one piece of evidence to get an idea a general on temperatures over long periods of time. From the 60'sthe rings suddenly show the earth's temperatures going down, while our thermometers accurately measure it going up. Hence the tree ring temp data in this timeperiod is obsolete, and should be left out. this is the trick, that allowed the data to better represent what is happening in the world.

It is important that little Australia start to implement a trading scheme before Copenhagen, to set a precedent that other major leaders with skeptics like you guys scared to pay for our kids to have a futureto latch onto. The effect of the trading scheme is already been diluted thanks to people like you, which will make it all the harder for the world to put the breaks on the silent, sublte overall changes that started over 100 years ago with the industrial revolution.

Look it sound like all of you have picked up on bits and pieces of sensationalised info. and your emotional pseudo intellectural response means that your grouup will have to see the devastation before beliveing in it. I wish your experts would stand up to the thorough Scientific scrutany that other scientists need to, before they influence political leaders like Joyce, who it seems has little understandanding the nature of scientific research and the way the scientific community comes to conclusions like smoking leads to incidents of cancer, how obesity leads to ill health, that relatively excess exposure to the sun is linked to skin cancer, leads to Coral reef bleachingetc, etc

Dear Sir.

Save us Please. Out with the ETS, Dictator Rudd and Penny Wong. This household is doing it hard already and we do have jobs. Wanted to go to the cinema last night but even that has nearly doubled in 2 years. We could not afford entry.
If they were really serious about pollution, they would be helping business to develop and speed up the process of alternative fuels and exploiting the newest financially feasible green ideas in electricity generation. Help not hinder future creations of technology.
Stop them putting a bad name on carbon dioxide. (plant food). We need more of this stuff. Pollution from fossils fuels is sanctioned by government because it is money. How about getting those fuel companies to find means of producing cleaner burning fuel. Rubbish (plastics, rubber) to biofuel is happening now in Vietnam and America.

This whole carbon scare is just an attempt to finance world government run by the banks and corporations with unelected presidents. For anyone unsure - do the complete research. Just check out a few places on the internet if you need a crash course. Watch Lord Monckton on www.youtube.com - he says he is not a climatologist but he knows more than most people like Al Gore and is prepared to debate anyone. Look up the hundreds of articles on sites like www.prisonplanet.com - or youtube Alex Jones. Better still watch Fall of the Republic on youtube for a full understanding of what has really happened in the US and the world.

I think the CPRS is a GOOD thing.
It always old men who oppose climate change. Drag yourselves into the 21st century. The Nat party will be dead in a few years anyway.

Barnaby says the ETS will affect everything you pay for. I don't remember Barnaby complaining about the GTS doing the same thing when it was being debated
# Peter Wordsworth

Keep up the great work!

Thanks for your common sense on this.

What a shame the Liberals can't see THEY COULD ACTUALLY WIN A DOUBLE DISSOLUTION ELECTION over this issue. Not many Australians are going to vote for a premature tax on the contentious issue of climate change before the major players have made their decisions.
# Peter Wordsworth
Saturday, November 28, 2009 3:35 PM
What a shame Mr # John Peters (Saturday, November 28, 2009 5:34 AM) hasn't taken the time to read up on the subject of global warming. A good start would have been Prof Ian Plimers "Heaven + Earth" with its 2000 footnotes referencing a huge number of scientific studies on the subject.

For Mr Peter's benefit, there IS evidence of global warming, just as several hundred years ago we had global cooling to the extent that it was possible to ice skate on the Thames River. TO DATE there is no evidence that it is anything other than normal variation which has occurred over past millennia. There is NO EVIDENCE that it is due to man-made causes or that anything we do can do will affect it's progress. There is no correlation between historical levels of carbon dioxide and atmospheric temperatures: in previous history levels of carbon dioxide have been between 3 and 200 times present levels while the earth has been virtually covered in ice. There is evidence pointing to variations in the heat output of the sun causing major climate variations here on earth. Not too sure what Mr Rudd can do about that one.

It is time Mr Rudd quit grandstanding on the world stage at our expense AND Mr Turnbull faced up to the prospect of fighting a double dissolution election which he would probably win. At the very least we need to take a deep breath and wait for smarter governments than ours to decide the matter.
# George
Saturday, November 28, 2009 3:47 PM
A double dissolution election fought on climate change would see the coalition lose about 20 more seats. To think they could win is nothing but fantasy.

The latest poll shows 75% of people support an ETS.

Keep opposing the ETS, this will see Rudd in Govt for 10+ years. It's exactly what he wants you to do.

Good morning Honorable Senator
I think the following are the proofs needed to ascertain the role of Goldman Sachs in creating a G20 Carbon Market and playing a fundamental part in creating the world government through Copenhagen.
This is the direct statement by Goldman Sachs JB Were on ETS.
The Statement was made at the Institute of Financial Services Association (Super fund peak body), with Ben Hare of Goldman Sachs speaking:

"Climate Change
Implications for the Investment Industry
I F S A / D e l o i t t e F u t u r e L e a d e r s A w a r d
Ben Hare
Goldman Sachs JBWere Asset Management"
[…]
Policy responses to climate change
" Primary policy responses involve imposing a cost on carbon emissions by the
implementation of an emissions trading scheme or a carbon tax.

Regulation, will be necessary to create immediate impact
" Australia is set to adopt an emissions trading scheme by 2012
[...]
The structure of an emissions trading scheme is important to its efficient operation.
Careful consideration needs to be given to:
" The emissions cap required to resolve the problem
" The pathway of emissions caps to ensure that the initial economic impacts are
manageable
" Equity issues in the initial allocation of permits. Grandfathering vs auctioning.
IFSA/Deloitte Future Leaders Award 2007 Page 7
Ben Hare
" The effect of the scheme on the competitiveness of trade exposed industries.

" The possible adoption of an upper price limit for carbon emissions in order to
limit unanticipated costs to the economy
" What offsets are permitted under the scheme

" The ability to integrate the scheme with similar international schemes *
"

GS wants the derivatives market as in the next point:
"Creating emissions trading scheme will also lead to derivative products emerging
that provide the ability to *hedge carbon emissions exposures*.”

* GS bets against its own clients like with Subprime's GFC repeat process with carbon derivatives.

http://www.ifsa.com.au/documents/2007_1004_IFSA%20Future%20Leaders%20report%20Ben%20Hare.pdf

Compare in relation to the G20 communiqué for their next meeting “Intergovernmental Declaration by the Finance Ministers and Central Bankers (including Wayne Swan et al) for the policy coordination needed to articulate this Carbon Trading World Market.
G20 Communiqué 7 Nov 2009 –UK http://www.g20.org/Documents/2009_communique_standrews.pdf
“7. We committed to take action to tackle the threat of climate change and work towards an
ambitious outcome in Copenhagen, within the objective, provisions and principles of the
United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

We discussed climate change financing options and recognised the need to increase significantly and urgently the
scale and predictability of finance to implement an ambitious international agreement.

Public Finance can leverage significant private investment. Increasing the scope of carbon markets
would depend on policy frameworks of developed and developing countries and on the depth
of emission reductions on the part of developed countries.

To deliver this financing,
coordinated equitable, transparent and effective institutional arrangements will be needed.

Coordination of support for country-led plans and reporting of this support should be ensured
across all financing channels, multilateral, regional and bilateral.

We discussed a range of options and, recognising that finance will play an important role in the delivery of the outcome at Copenhagen, we commit to take forward further work on climate change finance, to define financing options and institutional arrangements.”
In other words, the G20 member governments will put forward taxpayer finance to remove the ‘risk’ from the carbon market so the likes of Goldman Sachs and Wall Street are able to extract their profits off derivates selling and carbon credit brokerage with a defended carbon market price with a defended carbon value peg. This precedes the Carbon Credit Bubble as noted by CEDA and many others. In other words the Reserve Bank and Treasury are expected to defend the potential carbon bubble with financial resources, how much, how long and how far for?
Will GS collapse along with many more super funds on the trail and the Treasury and the Reserve maintain them afloat like done by the US Gov bailouts of Wall Street? Remember GS leads the Investor Group for Climate Change; they have locked up the Super Funds already. They already expect a wealth transfer from Public Coffers with the G20 Common Declaration by Finance Ministers. You see Goldman Sachs is going to be selling Insurance Premiums for a false climate risk, what happens when they find out it is a false? Don’t forget the doctrine of derivatives underwriting the insurance losses for every contract? For EU’s Cap and Trade, they are poised to be hit with Climate Gate taking the bottom out of its Carbon Trading Market.
See the list here http://www.iigcc.org/membership.aspx
http://www.iigcc.org/docs/PDF/Public/Publicfinancingmechanismsreport.pdf
The ETS is a fundamental part in creating a World Government, as it is the keystone of Copenhagen’s (COP15) World Carbon Trading Market which like the EU’s original Coal and Steel Community brought about the European Union we know today –same concept, different commodity.
I strongly recommend the pronouncements about to be made by the current Finance Minister and the Central Bank Governor on supporting the emerging Carbon Market is opposed in Parliament.

Regards
Carl
PS: Examine further the role of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intergovernmentalism in bypassing our democratic system in forming a para-governmental organisation for policy coordination as seen with G20’s declaration by ministers without Parliamentary sanction. Attendance must be banned.

I ask a couple of questions about what this bloody new tax will mean. They need to be asked publicly. 1. How many young families will no longer be able to service their housing loan due to this new tax and subsequently lose their home? 2. How many young families will no longer be able to service their housing loan when they lose their job due to this new tax? 3. How many farms will no longer be viable due to this new tax.

Thank you Barnaby for your good work.
Being in WA we can not vote for you but I have sent an Email to every WA Liberal Senator urging them to vote against the CRPS and ETS.

It would appear to us that the CPRS and ETS are an open check book and at the end of the day we will never be able to measure the "good' or see the “change” we have been charged for except in the increase in prices for every day goods and services.

If all Australians decided to revert to hunters and gathers and live in caves tomorrow, the Australian contribution would still have no impact on world climate even if the major polluters come on board.

Everyone recognises people are the biggest polluters, but no one will mention the need for population control except in China and Singapore. We note their Standard of Living has improved considerably over the last 30 years.

Why doesn't the Australian Parliament do something positive by promoting and achieving world population control, removal of tariffs and subsidies especially by the EU and USA and clean nuclear or renewable energy and we won’t need a CPRS or ETS.

Thanks for all your comments. I certainly don't expect everyone to agree with me but the beauty of the Australian democratic system is that we can all have our say. The beauty of the Nationals and the Coalition is that we can voice our opinion and we will not be expelled from our party. The Nationals have been resolute in their opposition to this massive new tax since day one. The Liberals have heard from their supporter base and realise that a new tax will not fix the climate. The Senate is due to sit again on Monday to continue the debate. Please tune in if you can to see how the debate goes.

Dear Senator Barnaby
Thank you for your recent efforts to bring this tax to the public's attention. It disturbs me greatly that the government is attempting to rush it without revealing the actual contents of the legislation and allowing proper debate in the community.
It seems to me absurd to be rushing into something that has the potential to wreck the economy and the lives of working families in the country. If Mr Rudd really cares about our children's future, then maybe he should explain to their parents what exactly this tax will do to everyone in this country. Polemics and emotive shouts of "we must do something" isn't very helpful.

I'm slightly amused to be thought a dinosaur. I suppose name calling will do when no real arguments can be offered. If it it means that I'm not ready to thoughtlessly embrace every trendy idea that is rammed down my throat then I wear the term as a badge of honour.

I emailed my local Senator (Humphries) and then I saw him on the news praising Malcolm Turnbull so I don't think he is switched on to what the main issue is. That for me is despite what Turnbull, Rudd and Wong say, I do not believe there has been adequate community consultation on this issue, and they are not telling us Australians what the full ramifications are for signing in Copenhagen.

YOU MUST TAKE NOTE TO RAISE THE WORLDS BIGGEST CONSPIRACY FRAUD THIS CENTURY - CLIMATEGATE -

The people of Australia know it is a fraudulent scam, and any ETS scheme will face a revolt from the people when they find out what you have done in allowing the ETS go ahead.

Please do the right thing and protect Australia and our future.

Lord Monckton: Shut Down The UN, Arrest The Warmist Criminals

Anti-climate cult crusader calls for world to rise up against communistic killers behind global warming fraud

Saturday, November 28, 2009
Appearing on The Alex Jones Show yesterday, Lord Christopher Monckton went further than ever before in his vehement opposition to the elitists running the climate change scam, calling for the UN to be shut down and for fraudulent peddlers of global warming propaganda like Al Gore to be arrested and criminally prosecuted.
Monckton said that those who are threatening to shut down economies, bankrupt nations, and deepen the problems of the third world by implementing draconian policies in the name of global warming should be indicted, prosecuted and imprisoned “for a very long time”.
“The fraudsters and racketeers from Al Gore to the people at the University of East Anglia who have been making their fortune at the expense of taxpayers and the little guy,” should be criminally charged, said Monckton, in response to the climategate scandal.
“We the people have got to rise up worldwide, found a party in every country which stands for freedom and make sure we fight this bureaucratic communistic world government monster to a standstill – they shall not pass,” he added.
Monckton said that the United Nations should be “closed down,” adding that he talked to a senior UN ambassador in Canada who told him that he no longer saw any purpose in the UN and it exists “only to enrich itself at the expense of the nations it claims to serve, it’s time it was brought to an end.”
“We would all save billions if we shut down the UN and just about all of its hideous bureaucracy,” said Monckton.
Lord Monckton emphasized how the emails released as a result of climategate prove that global warming alarmism was still prevalent in public but behind closed doors, warmist scientist are admitting that the “deniers” as they label people like Monckton are correct.
“Publicly they’re saying the science is settled, we’re all doomed unless you close down the economies of the west, whereas privately they’re saying to each other ‘we’ve got it wrong, none of this adds up and it’s a travesty that we can’t explain it’.”

Monckton also slammed Obama’s science czar John P. Holdren, who in his 1977 book Ecoscience called for draconian population measures to be enforced by a “planetary regime” in the name of saving the earth, as an “openly admitted communist”.
Monckton pointed out how Holdren had been once of the most prominent alarmists in the 70’s warning about the onset of rapid “global cooling”.
“Now with seamless mendacity he says that what we’re now facing is global warming,” said Monckton.
“How can anyone like Holdren stand up with a straight face and expect anyone to believe it,” he added.
Monckton said that the agenda behind the global warming movement was to set up a communistic world government which will be run by people who “do not care how many people they kill with their policies” and that their goal is to “do away with democracy forever by stealth using the excuse to save the planet.”
Monckton said that the people running the scam had a “deliberate desire to control population by killing people in large numbers deliberately if necessary.”
The former advisor to Margaret Thatcher said that the warmists were sounding more and more desperate and knew that they had been rumbled as a result of climategate, which would only make it more urgent for them to try and force through a binding treaty in Copenhagen.
Monckton said that the answer to combating the move towards neo-feudalism and global government was to form a worldwide “freedom party” that would operate nationally in every country in order to defend freedom, democracy and prosperity while routing out every aspect of the communistic takeover.
“Every time these people try to take it away, we in the freedom party will stop them, and I think now is the time,” said Monckton.

Barmaby, have you heard that the Climate Research Unit of the University of East Anglia has been manipulating data, deleting data and corrupting the peer-review process. Why not find out whether we are being coned. In one email, Phil Jones was saying he applied the trick of Mike to hide the decline. And in another email, Kevin Trenberth was saying, “The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t”.

I am amazed at the number of your bloggers saying that they have not have had enough time to consider the ETS. Perhaps they say this because it is one of your rote messages that you drivel out.

The Howard government went to the 2007 election with a nearly identicial proposal. The Rudd government has been tabling green papers, white papers since last year. It tabled the actual legistlatiion early this year.

How much time do you want ? Which rock have your bloggers been hidding under?

This is a matter of national importance, if you wish to be considered now, you should have been paying attention and participating some time ago.

The reality is that the "delayers" are really deniers who are too embarrased to admit that they are ignoring the great weight of scientific opinion - not all scientific opinion but the vast majority. I am sure it is still possible to find a scientists who will say that smoking is good for you.

Chris..... one of the chief deniers of climate change in USA is Dr Fred Singer - he is funded by the oil companies. Fred has previously been a denier for the tobacco industry claiming that the science that tobacco causes cancer and other health problems is flawed and fraudulent

The climate change deniers are as well funded as those who denied links between tobacco & health problems & they use the same tactics (including cash for comment journalists - remember who those are folks)

The Copenhagen Treaty

The upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference to be held in Copenhagen from December 7-18 is now being talked about all over the blogosphere. This is because of a speech that Lord Christopher Monckton, a former adviser to Margaret Thatcher, gave at Bethel University in St Paul, Minnesota, on October 14. In his speech he warned about the dire consequences of signing the Copenhagen Treaty.

He warned that most people have no idea what is actually in the Treaty, yet most nations around the world seem prepared to sign it, even though it may involve giving away national sovereignty, and handing over inordinate power to a global governing body. This is a part of what he had to say in his speech:

“At Copenhagen, this December, weeks away, a treaty will be signed. Your president will sign it. Most of the third world countries will sign it, because they think they’re going to get money out of it. Most of the left-wing regimes from the European Union will rubber stamp it. Virtually nobody won’t sign it.

“I read that treaty. And what it says is this, that a world government is going to be created. The word ‘government’ actually appears as the first of three purposes of the new entity. The second purpose is the transfer of wealth from the countries of the West to third world countries, in satisfaction of what is called, coyly, ‘climate debt’ – because we’ve been burning CO2 and they haven’t. We’ve been screwing up the climate and they haven’t. And the third purpose of this new entity, this government, is enforcement.

“How many of you think that the word ‘election’ or ‘democracy’ or ‘vote’ or ‘ballot’ occurs anywhere in the 200 pages of that treaty? Quite right, it doesn’t appear once. So, at last, the communists who piled out of the Berlin Wall and into the environmental movement, who took over Greenpeace so that my friends who founded it left within a year, because [the communists] captured it – Now the apotheosis is at hand. They are about to impose a communist world government on the world. You have a president who has very strong sympathies with that point of view. He’s going to sign it. He’ll sign anything. He’s a Nobel Peace Prize [winner]; of course he’ll sign it.”

Since that speech was given, warnings have gone around the world. The full video of his talk, along with a slide show, and the four-minute conclusion, are in video form and have been seen countless times by millions. He has since done a number of radio and TV interviews as well. I list all of the relevant links below.

Now I have not read the entire draft Treaty. It seems somewhat difficult to come by, at least on the mammoth UN website, and there seem to be various forms of it around. This seems to be the actual document in question: http://wattsupwiththat.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/un-fccc-copenhagen-2009.pdf

Now this is not a final version of the Treaty, and presumably – or at least hopefully – much discussion and debate will take place next month. But if even half of what Lord Monckton says is true, we all have great cause for alarm. There are many problems associated with it, not least of which is the proposal for some trans-national body to implement the Treaty’s recommendations.

There is also the fact that every month more and more evidence seems to emerge that the whole concept of man-made global warming is simply a beat-up. The number of scientists who are sceptical about anthropogenic climate change seems to be growing each passing day.

But all the scare-mongering about the end of the world makes things much easier for the globalists and enemies of freedom and democracy to implement their agenda. Plenty has been written about all of this, but let me refer to just two recent Australian commentaries on this.

Janet Albrechtsen of the Australian made a number of points worth repeating here. She begins with these words:

“Shame on us all: on us in the media and on our politicians. Despite thousands of news reports, interviews, analyses, critiques and commentaries from journalists, what has the inquiring, intellectually sceptical media told us about the potential details of a Copenhagen treaty? And despite countless speeches, addresses, interviews, doorstops, moralising sermons from government ministers, pleas from Canberra for an outcome at Copenhagen, opposition criticism of government policy, what have our elected representatives told us about the potential details of a Copenhagen treaty?”

She has read the 181-page document. “The word government appears on page 18. Monckton says: ‘This is the first time I’ve ever seen any transnational treaty referring to a new body to be set up under that treaty as a government. But it’s the powers that are going to be given to this entirely unelected government that are so frightening’.”

She continues, “It is impossible to fully understand the convoluted UN verbiage. Yet even those incomprehensible clauses point to some nasty surprises that no politician has told us about. For example, Monckton says the drafters want this new world government to have control over once free markets: the financial and trading markets of nation-states. ‘The sheer ambition of this new world government is enormous right from the start; that’s even before it starts accreting powers to itself in the way that these entities inevitably always do,’ he says.

“The reason for that power grab is clear enough from the draft treaty. Clause after complicated clause sets out the requirement that developed countries such as Australia pay their ‘adaptation debt’ to developing countries. Clause 33 on page 39 says that by 2020 the scale of financial flows to support adaptation in developing countries must be at least $US67 billion ($73bn), or in the range of $US70bn to $US140bn a year.”

Herald Sun columnist Andrew Bolt has written in more detail about the economic costs of all this. Says Bolt: “So here’s the question: is Rudd really going to approve a draft treaty that could force Australia to hand over an astonishing $7 billion a year to a new and unelected global authority? Yes, that’s $7 billion, or about $330 from every man, woman and child. Every year. To be passed on to countries such as China and Bangladesh, and the sticky-fingered in-between.

“And a second question, perhaps even more important: is Rudd really going to approve a draft treaty which also gives that unelected authority the power to fine us billions of dollars more if it doesn’t like our green policies? It is incredible that these questions have not been debated by either the Rudd Government or the Opposition, whose hapless leader, Malcolm Turnbull, on Monday admitted he did not even have a copy of this treaty. Australia’s wealth and sovereign rights may soon be signed away, so why hasn’t the public at least been informed?”

He continues, “But wait, there’s still more. You’d think this draft treaty that Rudd has worked on would at least give us a say over how our billions are spent. But no. UN bodies are already notoriously hard for any one nation to supervise or restrain. Even the United States, the biggest donor of all, could not stop the corruption at UNESCO two decades ago, and was forced to walk out in protest. Nor could it stop dictatorships such as Libya and Cuba from later holding key roles in the UN’s human rights bodies. And with this new global warming body, the vote of the paying West will be overruled even more decisively by the spending rest.”

Bolt concludes: “As for Turnbull … well, it’s tragic. Badgered by Alan Jones on 2GB on Monday on this very point, he said: ‘Of course the poorest countries are going to need assistance … (But) there is no way that anything like this would be accepted without extensive debate.’ So where is that debate, Malcolm? Why aren’t you screaming from the rooftops for reassurances that our wealth won’t be squandered and our powers handed over? Just this week the European Union said it would pay its share of an $82 billion cheque to this new body if countries such as ours come on board, too – so who’s applying the brakes? Not our politicians, for sure. So if you oppose this surrender of our billions and our freedom, better start saying so now, before it’s all too late.”

To conclude, our Prime Minister finally did speak out on all this, just yesterday. But what he had to say is not at all reassuring. He mentioned the Treaty and those concerned about it. And his response? They are basically all a bunch of conspiracy theory nuts.

He simply dismisses the concerns of people like Monckton and others about ceding away national sovereignty. And he also dismisses the tens of thousands of scientists who are sceptical about the whole premise of this debate. Rudd makes it clear that he is a true believer, and all these doubters are a bunch of fruit cakes united in some grand conspiracy theory.

So if you were worried about how Australia might respond in Copenhagen next month before his speech, you all should be a whole lot more worried now.

To all the others who complain they dont know what ETS involves - the Howard government took a very similar ETS to the 2007 election and it is still official Liberal policy. The Rudd government has tabled green papers & white papers for over 12 months. The legislation was tabled early this year & has been negotiated, brilliantly, by the Liberals for over 5 weeks.

If you are not interested in reading any of this what do you want Rudd to do - send someone to your home to read it to you? Or spend several hundred million dollars on TV ads like Workchoices or GST?

I really don't think this has anything to do with right or left wing politics. National or Labour what it is about is people actually thinking for themselves. We all need to STOP listening to football stars, movie stars, politician celebrities on both sides and look seriously at the issue. THINK FOR OURSELVES. Stop listening to the dramas and fear campaigners. Simple questions and simple answers are always best. Knee jerk reactions, name calling, theatrical performances, construed sound bites repeated over and over again being downloaded into our minds via TV and all the rest of the media.

Media reports sensation NOT facts. Good news is mostly boring. That is the way we have been managed by the media.

Surely some commonsense must prevail if this matter is so serious. Ask ourselves why do the scientist disagree, what have they to gain. Ask your self why do doctors and pharmaceutical companies fail to give us the WHOLE story .

Why is Mr Rudd building a $14million dollar war room in Parliament just like Mr Obama's , come on Australia wake up.

Congratulations on such an informative interview. I have spoken to so many people who aren't aware of the consequences of this scheme. Kevin Rudd is of the same malevolent creed as Al Gore; ‘Snake Oil Salesman’. Climate change, much like man-kind, has been around for thousands of years and is indeed part of the worlds evolutionary process, not mans ‘ignorance’. Like everything, it has a ‘cycle’. Our climate does change, but more-so, it ‘revolves’ and always will no matter how we humans interfere with it. Kevin our half-pint saviour is trying to fulfil himself a hot seat on the worlds stage; a ticket with the UN. This of course is Kevin’s forward planning for when he’s finally ‘TURFED’ as Prime Minister after the majority (True believers) realise what a complete and total ‘fraud’ he is. (And we don’t need the ‘Heiner Affair’ as proof of this.) Politicians know no bounds, especially failed ones. Our climate’s ‘revolving cycle’ will shortly have its turn for the better; once again. The ‘snake oil salesmen’ know this and are running out of time, trying to get in first (before the cycle inevitably changes) and convince the World that we need to ‘change our ways’ by virtue of ‘MASSIVE’ financial contributions to the UN, and in turn; ‘them’. If the ETS goes ahead, the UN will claim credit for our climates inevitable path. Man-made emissions have NO profound effect on our climate. But I guess it would take a ‘Snake Oil Salesman’ to convince the Charlie’s out there of that…???

Well done Barnaby. I strongly support your efforts. In late October, Alan Jones on 2GB radio interviewed Lord Monkton regarding the ETS and the Copenhagen Treaty. Barnaby please listen to this interview on youtube.com .
Lord Monkton raises some serious questions about the Governments hidden agenda behind the ETS and the Copenhagen Treaty. I encourage all of you reading to listen to this interview. I cannot believe the journalists have not picked up on this interview. It is highly controversial. Lord Monkton believes by agreeing to the Copenhagen Treaty we are handing our power over to a world governing body. Our legislation will be overidden by this new world governing body. I am concerned if this is true. We are not being told the truth and Rudd seems to be avoiding serious questions from our media. He is ducking and weaving with his fear campaign of global warming, while journalists and the majority of Australians and influential leaders and paralyzed numb with fear. Wake Up Australia

Climate change data dumped

SCIENTISTS at the University of East Anglia (UEA) have admitted throwing away much of the raw temperature data on which their predictions of global warming are based.
It means that other academics are not able to check basic calculations said to show a long-term rise in temperature over the past 150 years.
The UEA’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) was forced to reveal the loss following requests for the data under Freedom of Information legislation.
The data were gathered from weather stations around the world and then adjusted to take account of variables in the way they were collected. The revised figures were kept, but the originals — stored on paper and magnetic tape — were dumped to save space when the CRU moved to a new building.
The admission follows the leaking of a thousand private emails sent and received by Professor Phil Jones, the CRU’s director. In them he discusses thwarting climate sceptics seeking access to such data.
In a statement on its website, the CRU said: “We do not hold the original raw data but only the value-added (quality controlled and homogenised) data.”
The CRU is the world’s leading centre for reconstructing past climate and temperatures. Climate change sceptics have long been keen to examine exactly how its data were compiled. That is now impossible.
Roger Pielke, professor of environmental studies at Colorado University, discovered data had been lost when he asked for original records. “The CRU is basically saying, ‘Trust us’. So much for settling questions and resolving debates with science,” he said.
Jones was not in charge of the CRU when the data were thrown away in the 1980s, a time when climate change was seen as a less pressing issue. The lost material was used to build the databases that have been his life’s work, showing how the world has warmed by 0.8C over the past 157 years.
He and his colleagues say this temperature rise is “unequivocally” linked to greenhouse gas emissions generated by humans. Their findings are one of the main pieces of evidence used by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which says global warming is a threat to humanity.

BIOFUELS! gives the power back to the people. Spirit of current/future generations can grow with pride into the future as community grows the economy.

More Global Heat than Light!!

Twenty one years ago I attended a conference convened by the State Government in Adelaide, South Australia where papers were presented over two days on global warming. I was excited to see that at last the problem seemed to be getting a wider audience, and felt hopeful that perhaps we as a society would be starting to implement some significant practical strategies to deal with the matter.

Today, twenty one years later, the excitement has been replaced by sadness and foreboding. The situation is much worse. The clock is ticking away much closer to “midnight” and the collective political will to address the problem has all the appearance of a shambles.

In a further twenty one years those of us that are still around will be being berated by our children and grandchildren for handing over to them a planet in a tragically derelict state of repair, and the question that I keep asking myself is: Why?

Perhaps it is because of my formal training in physics that I can see unequivocal trends in the recorded data that directly threaten the future viability of not only society as we know it, but the continued existence of the human race itself. And yet I have friends and acquaintances with strong family values who cannot see these same trends in the same data and therefore genuinely believe that their actions will not have any impact on the world their grandchildren will inherit. Not to mention those who would have us believe that the world is being held to ransome by climate scientists because of their vested interest in research funding, unlike the misrepresented proponents of the coal industry who are not out to make money, but just help all the poor people in the planet to live like Americans.

A few years ago I used to play records on a gramophone. I would put a record on a turntable and a needle would track the long spiral groove from beginning to end, waggling back and forth to reproduce and amplify a single complex oscillation. While it might have been a single oscillation, when I listened to the result, I could sometimes hear a whole orchestra playing, and be able to identify the sounds of individual instruments which all combined to create the whole.

It is much the same with the recorded mean temperature records for our planet. Obviously there will be different temperatures recorded at different weather stations all over the world, but each reading is a result of the combination of many separate contributing effects. Some variations will be due to volcanoes periodically erupting in different parts of the planet, and some variations will be explicable in terms of known wobbles in the solar system, and so on, but underlying all of this, after such variations have been accounted for, is the mean temperature, and reputable scientists have established beyond any shadow of doubt that over reliable recorded history, that mean temperature is showing not only a small but significant growth, but that the growth is exponential in nature.

Some non-scientists accept this but say, quite rightly, the scale of the waggles historically caused by volcanoes and whatever has been large enough in the past that the events we are experiencing today are no more extreme. It has been hotter before. True. Not an issue. No argument. What they are missing, though, and perhaps what scientists haven’t been very good at explaining in the past, is the sting in the tail of the exponential characteristics of the underlying mean.

There is no argument that the best data available shows an exponential component in the mean temperature records, and that this is reflected also in records of atmospheric CO2 and methane. The nexus between these phenomena is clear and explicable. People may argue about the fine tuning of computer models, but we have learned to expect our weather forecasters to be accurate at least a week ahead because of basically the same modelling skills.

Some of the biggest arguments still lie in the acceptance of the modelling of the relationship between human activity and CO2 levels. Clearly humans generate CO2 directly and indirectly, but trying to get all of the linkages and levers set at the right values in any computer model would be such a huge job that it is unfair to criticise those trying to do so if they don’t come up with perfect answers immediately. This is where my practical farmer’s experience joins in with my years of university physics training to tell me that all we have to do is to stop and look around us. Where in nature, on a global scale, do we see an example of exponential growth? I have looked, and looked, and looked, and can only find one. Therefore, until someone else can come up with a more plausible scenario, I would be a complete mug if I didn’t at least consider that one example to be a serious contender as a causative agent for the observed behaviour of mean global CO2 levels and mean global temperature. That one example, is, of course, the growth of the global human population. If you have trouble accepting the reality of that, then perhaps dogma has won the day. It’s a bit like the old saying that “A Smith and Wesson beats four aces every time”, although my paraphrasing of it is that “logic only works on logical people”.

Now add to that the fact that much of the world lives in poverty, but most would like to live like Americans or Australians or Europeans, and that there are no plans to seriously curtail our current rate of population growth, with short term projections of 9 billion people and longer term projections of 13 billion still seriously envisaged, and there are clearly no grounds for expecting a material change in that growth pattern anytime soon.

Then understand that while the waggles in the temperature record due to volcanoes and other factors in the past have been big enough to mask until recently any graphically obvious variation in the mean temperature, the exponential nature of that increase in the mean is a special mathematical form which tells us that this is all about to change. An exponential curve describes a value which continues to double over a fixed period, which is why things will start to get worse and worse quicker and quicker. Just because an aircraft survives when the wings only flap up and down a couple of metres in a storm doesn’t mean that it will continue to survive when the forces on them get twice as strong, and then double again, and so on. Eventually we will find ourselves like the pilots of an airliner heading for the deck. We might not know much about physics, but we have a good idea that it’s too late to pull out, and a fair idea of what’s going to happen when it hits the ground. That’s when it’s a bit late to think that you should have asked for better advice or tried to understand the manual or the weather warnings.

While it may be very clever for some politicians and lobbyists who should perhaps know better to immediately set out to try to discredit the scientists who have carried out this analysis, these same people blithely hop on and off of aircraft that were only ever built in the first place and don’t often fall out of the sky because of the outstanding work of similar scientists with similar training and similar ethics.

Other people subscribe to the view that the scientists got us into this mess by curing many of the diseases that used to kill us off much earlier, and they will invent ways to get us out of it again. One argument is that New Yorkers would have been buried in horse manure long ago if it were not for scientific advances, but much more recently the proposition has been made that the world is still in danger from drowning in horse manure not generated by horses. If we can fix up the planet as well as we have fixed the Murray River, then drowning in horse manure may not be such a bad way to go.
Didn’t your grandmothers ever tell you that an ounce of prevention is better than a ton of cure, and if so, why didn’t you take any notice?

At the end of the day, it will not just be my grandchildren on that aircraft heading for the deck, but those belonging to Nick Minchin and Barnaby Joyce (I know he’s a National, and sometimes makes good sense, but not on this!) and even bloody old Wilson.

Right now, I would appreciate it if at the very least we had a strong federal opposition to stand up to what is potentially a runaway federal Labor Government.

Maybe stop to think that Malcolm Turnbull is a bit more in touch with the feelings of the young people of Australia than some of those guys making the most noise at the moment. Give Australia a bit of credibility in Copenhagen, give Turnbull a bit of credit for reflecting what the vast majority of Australians want, and for all our sakes stop elevating self destruction of the Opposition to a high art form or there won’t bloody well be an opposition! The way you lot are shaping up, you are about three paces behind the Australian Democrats. Please close the door on the way out. As voters we deserve better than that.

Dear Senator Joyce,
Please keep up the good work.
Perhaps you can find one of the experts to explain who benefits if an export business which manufactures specialised components finds that it can no longer operate under the ETS and moves to another country which is willing to provide cheap energy from aging coal fired power stations. The result would be a loss of Australian export revenue, loss of jobs and an increase in emissions in another part of the world.
If the purpose is to reduce global emissions, where is the benefit?

The coalition can win the next election if they fight it by opposing this ETS tax. We saw today in the polls that up to 80% of Australians don't understand the ETS and claim Labor has not explained it. This has been Labor's tactic all along. They know it will be a vote loser if it is explained in detail - hence their determination to sneek it through before an election year. Australians will hate this tax.

Mr Rudd has never had to be up front with Australian voters and explain it to them - but he will be forced to if it becomes the main election issue. He will never be able to sell it to Australians.

Keep up the fantastic work Barnaby.

Well done Nick Minchin - you have given Kevin Rudd an early Christmas present by destroying the credibility & ethics of the Liberals.

Why are you hypocritically calling for deferment of ETS until Feb - you have already said you will vote it down.

You must push for Joe Hockey to challenge & win the leadership !! Malcolm is bowing to Rudd on the ETS & the climate change propaganda machine. You must stop Rudd bulldozing this policy through parliament before the Copenhagen Summit. Rudd is putting his own pompous ego before the Australian people, business & jobs !
We are relying on you !!

The failure of the mainstream media to report on almost any aspect of what has become known as 'climategate' is extremely concerning. It looks like people are going to have to make themselves aware of the dodgy 'science' that underpins climate change alarmism. One place to start is here: http://www.climateaudit.org/?p=7826

So big Joe wants to advance his career by stabbing Turnbull in the back & being Minchins puppet?

So who will lead the Liberals in opposition after the next election?

One of Turnbulls first backstabbers, Mitch Fifield has launched the new Liberal chant today : "The partyroom is committed to action on climate change " - how is it "committed" if the puppetmasters , such as Minchin, deny climate change is taking place?

How is ETS "Rudds new tax" or "Rudds ETS" if the Liberals negotiated for 5 weeks , had all their amendements accepted by the Rudd government & shadow cabinet voted in favour of the negotiated ETS?

These buffoons have had more positions on ETS than they had excuses for invading Iraq

To the poster Dr Grant Gartrell:-

By YOUR own omission your qualifications are in PHYSICS and NOT CLIMATOLOGY!
I rest my case!

It's abundantly clear if one reads any of these so man made global warming support web sites (eg world wildlife fund, friends of the earth, ozgreen etc...), that the target of this BRAINWASHING has been CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE!

It is interesting that you mention YOUNG PEOPLE in your post, as one can easily see that they are the ones who have been DELIBERATELY TARGETED by these fanatical green on the outside, RED UNDERNEATH, ENVIRONMENTAL COMMUNISTS!

That is what the COMMUNISTS used to do in the Soviet Union.
Manipulate the most impressionable, gullible and nieve members of society, CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE , who are then expected to go out into the world and into their families and convince them of the HOAX!

EVIL CHILD ABUSE!!!!!!!!!

I hope you enjoy living a SUBSISTENCE LIFESTYLE because that is what YOU will be living if the antichrists rudd/wonng get their ETS(Extra Tax System/Employment Termination Scheme) and their treasonous deal at COPENHAGEN!

HAVE YOU EVEN READ THE DRAFT?

You have obviously been BRAINWASHED by The Global Religion Guru!
How much of YOUR OWN reading/research have YOU done on this particular subject? Or are YOU simply one of the SHEEP that cannot think for THEMSELVES!

So what you are saying is that you are ESTATIC at the thought of the following:-
64,000 jobs GONE out of the resources sector
17.5 billion dollars in extra taxes by 2012-13. to GIVE AWAY to third world countries
Electricity prices up 200%
Food; up 25% overnight,
Fuel; up 30%
Unemployment 20% (this is what happened in Spain!)
Governance by the unelected UN
All services and prices for goods to SKYROCKET
Etc etc…….

Do you seriously agree with these things?
Impact on the Earth’s temperature(which is COOLING) of an ETS – ZERO!
Impact on Al Gore’s bank account up by BILLIONS OF DOLLARS, through carbon trading!
Impact on Rudd – nice job on UN.
Impact on you and I – screwed!!!!!!!!!
Don’t say “that can’t happen”. It WILL happen, THIS YEAR if people don’t speak up against it!
It’s sad that there are so many UNTHINKING SHEEP in Australia, who will just accept what is being done to them without a word.
Diggers fought and died to protect Australia and YOU advocate signing away our SOVERIGNITY at the stroke of a pen.
What a traitor! Or are you simply an imbecile?
Once this ETS(Extra Tax System/Employment Termination Scheme) is introduced and this COPENHAGEN treason at the UN is signed there will be no way that we can withdraw from our obligations. Voting in another government here will not be able to undo this.

Don't forget that if this treasonous deal is signed in COPENHAGEN then part of Australia's SOVERIGNITY is being signed away. UNDERSTAND!
There are HIDDEN consequences also. By signing we are acknowledging that Australia has a DEBT to the Third World!
Therefore OVER 7 BILLION DOLLARS PER YEAR are going to be just GIVEN AWAY to these countries. So they destroy their own countries with deforestation, poor land use strategies and corruption and WE GET TO PAY THEM FOR IT!

Read these stories if you doubt me.

So YOU are quite happy even ecstatic at the prospect of handing all this money to these countries while at the same time DESTROYING YOUR OWN country’s economy. Thereby plunging Australian's living standards back hundreds of years, while at the same time ELEVATING those of Third World Countries to our standard of living.

Please explain how this will affect the temperature of the Earth.

Please explain how this is in Australia’s best interests.

Are YOU INSANE? HAVE YOU SEEN A DOCTOR? Maybe YOU have an interest in a carbon trading company and stand to profit?

And all based on what? A HOAX!

Parties with interests in carbon trading companies will become the new billionaires, while normal citizens will live in POVETY!
What about Australian Hospitals, Roads, Social Services etc.

Charity begins at home!
Obviously, YOU do not care about the welfare of your fellow Australians!
What a SELFISH ATTITUDE!

Oh of course we will have all these new green jobs YOU say. Tell me have you visited a wind farm lately. See many people working there? What about a solar power station. See many there either? No, I didn't think so!

ANSWER ME THIS:-
Al Gore has been issued a challenge to debate global warming.
HE HAS REFUSED!
What does it tell you about his convictions?
What is he afraid of?
Obviously being discovered as the Con Man that he is!

Global warming has already been proven to be a HOAX.
Read what a prominent IPCC member and lead author on many of their papers has stated.

and this
http://www.4bc.com.au/blogs/michael-smith-blog/deconstructing-global-warming/20091104-hxsw.html

YOU provide references to JUST ONE UNBIASED SCIENTIST who states CATEGORICALLY, WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT THAT GLOBAL WARMING IS ABSOLUTELY CAUSED BY MANKIND!
Not MAYBE or POSSIBLY!
I challenge YOU to do so!

The Earth is in fact COOLING!
Everybody is entitled to their own OPINION on this so called man made global warming - NOBODY IS ENTITLED TO THEIR OWN FACTS.
The SCIENTIFIC FACTS ARE THAT THE EARTH IS COOLING!
Who are the DENIERS now?
The following story is very enlightening regarding so called man made climate change. “http://www.worldclimatereport.com /index.php/2009/10/06/antarctic-ice-melt-at-lowest-levels-in-satellite-era/ “
Where are the headlines? Where are the press releases? Where is all the attention? The ice melt across during the Antarctic summer (October-January) of 2008-2009 was the LOWEST ever recorded in the satellite history.
Oops so much for global warming.
Seems like very selective reporting by the media in the global brain washing campaign.
Only ONE SIDE is ever presented and NO TRUE DEBATE has ever been entered into.
Any dissenting view is ridiculed with puerile name calling- this attitude is insulting to people's intelligence to say the least.
Have a look at this article :-
http://joannenova.com.au/2009/11/global-bully-rudd-fights-for-foreign-committee-against-citizens/

One of the sources of corruption from the heart of the AGW scientific engine room, The Hadley Centre, Climate Research Unit has been hacked recently, with a large amount of data released. It throws serious doubt on man made global warming. This story has hit the New York Times, the UK’s The Telegraph, Fox News and the BBC.

Read this document on the IMPLICATIONS OF AN ETS ON AUSTRALIA:-
http://www.lavoisier.com.au/articles/climate-policy/science-and-policy/backtothe19C.pdf

Read the document "The-madness-of-ETS.pps" (http://www.jimball.com.au/The-madness-of-ETS.pps) and checkout the list of
over 30,000 highly qualified scientists worldwide on this (
http://www.petitionproject.org/) web site WHO ALL REJECT THE MAN MADE GLOBAL WARMING RUBBISH!

“The opposite of sceptical is gullible.” The scientific process should always remain open to investigation, which means, “to criticism. Thus we can get rid of a badly fitting theory before the adoption of the theory makes us unfit to survive. By criticizing our theories we can let our theories die in our stead.” Karl Popper, The Rationality of Scientific Revolutions, an essay in “The Myth of the Framework.”

Until this leaked data is analysed there should be NO VOTING on any ETS(Employment Termination Scheme/Extra Tax System) by the Senate.
Additionally, there should be no negotiation at COPENHAGEN until the veracity of the claims made in the data are verified.
It would be HIGHLY IRRESPONSIBLE of the Labor Federal Government to do otherwise.
Potentially this may be the Smoking Gun which proves that the population has been conned by all the man made global warming fanaticism from the CHURCH OF AL GORE. Who, by the way is not a scientist, only a failed politician.

Lord Christopher Monckton successfully prevented Gore's film from screening
in Britain. The legal system was obviously not convinced by the global
warming science fiction movie(a convenient lie) which contained over NINE GLARING ERRORS.

Remember "The opposite of sceptical is gullible.” The scientific process should always remain open to investigation, which means, “to criticism”.
The Earth's climate is tremendously complex and far from thoroughly understood.

Ahh you say it has been SO HOT LATELY. Yes, it’s called THE WEATHER.
There was WEATHER prior to man’s existence on Earth and there will be WEATHER post mankind. It follows natural cycles.
It is the HEIGHT OF ARRORGANCE to think that mankind can affect the WEATHER on planet Earth. Only God has that power!

ANYONE in the parliament who votes for the Emissions Trading Scheme is betraying not just common sense but the country… Do the basic math. We contribute 1.5 per cent of global CO2 emissions. Cutting our emissions by 5 per cent - the most likely scenario, given that everyone else at Copenhagen is going to laugh at these hicks from downunderville and promise to do exactly squat - will reduce our contribution to 1.425 per cent. Hooray, the Barrier Reef is saved! Victoria - according to the prime minister - will never experience another super-hot day again!…

Indeed it’s gone beyond the surreal. With the prime minister’s rising hysteria colliding with the leaked emails showing some of his fellow climate hysterics - the ‘official’ ones behind the whole US climate change dynamic - have massaged their analysis to ‘prove’ global warming and to - try to - bury the global cooling reality.

Sorry, this was done in their ‘peer-reviewed analysis.’ All other credible scientists should be alarmed. Nor over supposed global warming. But the way this taints all of them and the scientific method…

This is one of those moments in time. You are either on the right side of history or you are not.

AGW ALARMISM IN SCHOOL CLASSROOMS IS CHILD ABUSE

The Climate Sceptics object in the strongest possible terms to the kind of child abuse being inflicted on children by AGW alarmism in school classrooms. It is not science. It is religio-political indoctrination. It is a drive to sweep up children in one of the most fanatical movements the world has ever seen.

Childrens CrucadeThe Children’s Crusade of 1212 C.E. was one of the most shameful events in the history of the Christian West. After four Crusades had failed to wrest the Holy Lands from the Mohammedan powers, many thousands of children were swept up by the mass hysteria and religious enthusiasm of the day to do what the armies of Christendom had failed to do – repossess the Holy Lands.

Many of these children were less than 12 years of age. All of them were far too young to understand the religious or political issues in which they had involved themselves. They may have been old enough to shout the slogans that were put into their mouths by their manipulative priests and teachers, but they were victims of an appalling kind of child abuse. Fifty thousand of them were sold into slavery or perished at sea.

There is a reason we do not send children into battle. They need and deserve our protection. Children should not be used in ideological battles. It is not accepted that they are qualified to serve on juries. They are not required or even permitted to vote.

We do not accept that school children should be victims of political indoctrination. Their impressionable young minds are not ready to weigh up evidence and to form opinions that are really their own.
Environmental Alarmism in Schools

A few years ago (1996) two educationalists, Michael Sandera and Jane Shaw, became so concerned about the detrimental psychological impact that doomsday environmentalism was having on school children, that they published a book called Facts Not Fear: A Parents Guide to Teaching Children About the Environment. The book is still excellent reading today. But sadly, the indoctrination of children in the schools has not improved, but has gotten a lot worse.

When the public schools in Great Britain started showing Al Gore’s documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, a father took the Educational Department to the High Court on the grounds that the documentary was political indoctrination. The High Court judge ruled that An Inconvenient Truth was politically biased, contained 9 serious scientific errors, and should not be shown in the schools unless the children were told of the political bias and warned that it contained exaggerations and scientific errors.

In Australia, the message of An Inconvenient Truth is being delivered to children as if it were textbook science. It is not. Teachers have become the unwitting agents for Al Gore’s crusade of AGW indoctrination. Al Gore has become the High Priest of a new Children’s Crusade to save planet earth – a feat which is more fantastical than Medieval children trying to save the Holy Lands.
A medical doctor speaks out: Climate of Fear and Children

Dr. D. Weston Allen, M/B/B/S/ F.R.A.C.G.P. Grad. Dip Phys. Med. Tutor Bond Uni and Griffith Uni.

In classrooms across Australia, children are being taught about climate change and its cause – greenhouse gas emissions. They are shown Al Gore’s documentary An Inconvenient Truth, portraying alarming sea level rises, disappearing arctic ice and polar bears, spreading epidemics of deadly diseases and many other dire consequences. They are given projects and assignments on the subject.

Children in our schools are also encouraged to evaluate their own carbon footprint and that of their parents, by logging onto an ABC program that tells them how big a pig they are, and how they can blow themselves up.
By these means the children are being co-opted into an orchestrated campaign to ‘save the planet’ before it is too late.
What impact is this having on our children?

A 2007 survey of 600 Australian children aged 10-14 revealed that 44% are nervous about the future impact of climate change and that ‘a quarter honestly believes the world will come to an end before they get older.’[1]

A more recent study of 200 NSW schoolchildren found fears over climate change are producing feelings of powerlessness and despair: ‘Many children thought they would not survive to adulthood.’[2]

Do we want our children to be so anxious and fearful, so pessimistic about the future that they see little point in higher education? What if such fears are based on a delusion, on exaggerations or blatant lies? Is this not reprehensible child abuse?

Of course we want our children to become responsible citizens, avoiding unnecessary waste and pollution. But do we want them to become evangelical carbon cops at home?

Are children being presented with both sides of the debate? Are they being taught how to question and think for themselves? Or are they being indoctrinated with a (Green) religion masquerading as science? What are the future implications of this for real science? Dr. D. Weston Allen

If you arent listening to news radio, give it a go now. Barnaby in questioning the Wong one, is showing what an absolute mess this ETS would be. Not one question has been answered satisfactorally while I have been listening. A classic quote tooo from Mr. Joyce: " we knock the nuts out of all sorts of things"!!!!
Monday, November 30, 2009 2:32 PM
Dear Senator Joyce,
I very much support and congratulate your line of arguement with respect to the sequestration of carbon in summer pastures. I strongly believe that the entire biomass of agricultural production should be calculated which would tip the balance in the farmers favour in terms of carbon binding rather than net carbon emissions. For example the export of grain, meat or dairy products is the exporting of sequestered carbon from the Australian atmosphere. The cost paid by importers of Australian product should include a proportion of carbon tax paid to our farmers if an ETS is to be truly representative of the carbon cycle. I published an article in "The Warrnambool Standard" on 24/11/09 highlighting these points. I would be happy to forward on this article to your office or any of your supporters on this forum. I must add that I believe an ETS could work. But, the current proposal is clearly wrong.

Copy of an email sent to all members of the Senate and House of Representatives

Dear................,
A very recent poll showed that around 80% of Australians DO NOT UNDERSTAND the ETS/CPRS – and yet you continue to support this bill??

May I ask, “Who do you work for?”

You are prepared to vote for a bill the underlying support of which is the so called science of Anthropogenic Global Warming – more recently referred to as Climate Change.

May I say that the ‘Science’ used to promote the fallacy of AGW/Climate Change is in it’s death throes given the release of the UK CRU emails and accompanying documents – SOMETHING NOT MENTIONED IN THE AUSTRALIAN MEDIA – I WONDER WHY? Might it be that the enlightenment of the Australian people could actually affect the passing of this outrageous bill?

There are many Scientists out there who have spent years researching the subject of AGW and have not been able to publish their findings because UKCRU, and the like, have dominated the peer review process and controlled the publishing of what they refer to as “adverse Science” in many Scientific Journals.

If you actually believe in AGW – AND I HOPE THIS IS NOT ONLY THE CASE BUT THE SOLE REASON why you insist on supporting the ETS/CPRS – please visit http://arxiv.org/abs/0707.1161 where you will find "Falsification of the Atmospheric CO2 Greenhouse Effects within the frame of Physics" by Prof Gerhard Gerlich. The Queen - who called on the Commonwealth to take the lead in addressing climate change
John Howard - who took ETS to 2007 election (supported by the communist National Party)
Rupert Murdoch - who is making News Ltd carbon neutral and wants all News Ltd readers to rake urgent action on climate change

What a load of utter bullshit.

Are you seriously that ignorant of ETS or are you just telling lies?

To all whining rent-a-crowd who complain they dont know what ETS involves - the Howard government took a very similar ETS to the 2007 election and it is still official Liberal policy.

Is your smug ignorance Rudds fault?

Message to Grant Gartrell,

Did your formal physics education cover the logarithmic relationship between CO2 and long wave heat absorption? Once the atmosphere reaches saturation point it will have no further affect on warming. The only thing that could cause runaway warming would be the existence of extreme positive feedbacks. The IPCC relies enormously on these to produce their "disaster" scenarios. If you have proof these exist please let us know. The evidence so far shows that feedbacks are negative. If there were positive feedbacks I think the climate would have been a lot more lively in the past. Albedo effect is the only one I am aware of and this is more relevant during ice ages. Cloud cover (interestingly a negative feedback) would have a much greater impact since it's not restricted to high latitudes.

I do not think the science is anywhere near settled on this matter. We have seen from the East Anglia University emails that scientists have actively tried to suppress or delete data. Your training in physics should have included a fair amount of training on what scientific method is all about. I got it just from high school science. You can't propose a theory, hide all your data and calculations and expect other people to accept it. Very simple, fundamental principle of science. If it's not repeatable, it's not science.

Also in the interests of disclosure are you any relation to former ALP secretary Tim Gartrell?

BBC weatherman ‘ignored’ leaked climate row emails

Controversy: Weatherman Paul Hudson

The BBC has become tangled in the row over the alleged manipulation of scientific data on global warming.

One of its reporters has revealed he was sent some of the leaked emails from the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia more than a month ago – but did nothing about them.

Despite the explosive nature of some of the messages – which revealed apparent attempts by the CRU’s head, Professor Phil Jones, to destroy global temperature data rather than give it to scientists with opposing views – Paul Hudson failed to report the story.

This has led to suspicions that the scandal was ignored because it ran counter to what critics say is the BBC’s unquestioning acceptance in many of its programmes that man-made climate change is destroying the planet.

Dr Benny Peiser, director of the Global Warming Policy Foundation, said: ‘We need to know more about the BBC’s role in this affair. Was Mr Hudson told by the BBC not to use the story?’

It was only after the same emails were published on a blog called Air Vent that Look North climate correspondent Mr Hudson owned up in his own blog to the fact he had also had the material.

In a bizarre twist, he claimed the leak had been triggered by an article he had written that questioned global warming.

Mr Hudson, 38, last night declined to comment. A BBC spokesman said: ‘Paul has nothing to add to what he has already said in his blog.’

I am truly upset by the government plus the Liberals trying to push this ETS upon us before we see what the rest of the world is going to do in Copenhagen. Why is there such a rush - the people of Australia do not have all the facts. Thank you for at least trying to inform us. Keep on battling strong to stop the ETS from happening. As a pensioner I am truly concerned at how I am going to make ends meet with yet another tax.

UNMASKING GLOBAL WARMING:
THE CASE OF MIKHAIL GORBACHEV

The most remarkable aspect of the man-made global warming claim is the lack of solid scientific evidence for it. Yet there are those whose apparent goal it is to advance this theory at all costs. Blatant in their disregard of the facts, they try to convince as many as would believe of the real nature of this alleged danger. But since this activism does not rest on scientific evidence or hard facts, it must be driven by motives other than those publicly stated. This much at least should be obvious, but sadly far too many people have failed to make this inference. Blinded by fear, they have not considered the possibility that those fanning the flames of hysteria may harbor ulterior motives.

To see just what those motives may be, we need to go no further than Mikhail Gorbachev whose remarkable political transformation offers a striking insight into the true character of the man-made global warming movement.

Formerly leader of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev is now one of the world's most vocal global warming activists. This is an unlikely role indeed for a man who during his years in power showed no inclination to address environmental issues. This could not have been for lack of opportunity, given that he presided over a country which suffered from extensive ecological damage wrought by years of gross disregard and mismanagement. Had he had the inclination, there was much to do about the lamentable state of his country's environmental condition. Gorbachev, however, not only did nothing, but brazenly continued the Soviet regime's ecologically disastrous policies.

But nothing revealed his true attitudes more glaringly than the explosion of a nuclear reactor at Chernobyl. His first reaction was not to launch a clean-up operation, but to conceal the fact. Initially he denied that anything happened at all. Then, when radioactive clouds reached countries hundreds of kilometers away, he claimed that it was only a 'minor' accident. It was only under the pressure of growing evidence that Gorbachev finally admitted the truth. While mounting the cover-up, the time and energy that could have been used to contend with the unfolding ecological catastrophe were irretrievably lost. But that was not all, for Gorbachev also decided to sacrifice the lives of thousands whom he refused to evacuate or even notify of the danger. Scores died and countless others suffered from diseases caused by exposure to radiation. Many could have been saved had Gorbachev done the decent thing. Chernobyl thus stands as tragic evidence of Gorbachev's disdain both for nature and human life which, sadly, is all too often found in those who espouse the communist worldview.

Yet today this man is one of the world's most prominent eco-lobbyists and an ardent proponent of global warming. The question is how we are to reconcile Gorbachev's past behavior of environmental destructiveness with his present-day activism. We would do well to ponder this, because the answer sheds light not only on a wily personal reinvention, but also on the motives of those responsible for the creation and spreading of the global warming hysteria.

The many interviews and statements made by Gorbachev since the collapse of the Soviet Union offer important clues. What they essentially reveal is that despite the ignominious fall of communism, Gorbachev has not changed his basic ideological convictions. In other words, this life-long party apparatchik remains an unrepentant communist to this day. This should surprise no one, since people rarely change their thinking later in life, especially if they are as willful and ideologically driven as Gorbatchev apparently was. After all, it was his ideological rigor that enabled him to successfully negotiate the dangerous waters of Soviet politics and emerge as his country's supreme leader barely a week after his fifty-fourth birthday.

But ejected from power less than seven years later, he faced a challenge. Unwilling to retire, he needed to find a new outlet for his political energies. This posed a problem, because Gorbachev could not afford to openly fly the banner of his communist convictions, since a declaration of allegiance to this well-discredited ideology would have resulted in his marginalization if not ridicule.

To remain credible, Gorbachev had to look for a more respectable platform from which to continue his efforts. This he quickly found in environmentalism and less than two years after his fall from power he founded Green Cross International, a Geneva-based eco lobby group.

It is not at all surprising that Gorbachev--like so many others on the left--has found environmentalism so attractive given that it in a furtive way tends toward the very essence of socialism. It is precisely this covert quality that makes this brand of activism so palatable to true believers in the post-communist era.

Environmentalism's socialist tendencies are already inherent in its starting premise which is that this world is headed for destruction because of the way modern societies conduct their life and affairs. The principal culprits are the business enterprise--whose relentless pursuit of profit has ecologically devastating consequences--and the masses whose excessive and irresponsible consumption exacerbate the already precarious situation. The only way to avert the looming catastrophe, then, is to rein in the greedy business and direct people's behavior in environmentally conducive ways. This naturally can only be done by a government properly equipped for the great task at hand. The net result of environmental activism is thus an empowered state exercising close oversight over the business and private spheres. In Marx's parlance, the means of production--and indeed nearly aspects of societal life--are placed under state control. This is nothing if not socialism rising, and since it also happens to be something Gorbachev has been striving for all of his life, it should come as no surprise that he has been an enthusiastic proponent ever since Marxism-Leninism became a byword for failure.

But while even the most basic forms environmentalism have proven themselves to be a potent vehicle for advancing socialist ideals, the potential of global warming has exceeded almost all expectations in this regard. All of the elements of the harrowing scenario it so vividly paints--its global scope, its imminence, its catastrophic potential--point toward the need for immediate and drastic measures on a wide scale. It should not take very long to realize that such a comprehensive response can only be mounted by a state armed with vast powers to decree, to regulate and to tax, powers which the devotees are only too eager to grant.

It is precisely for these reasons that the idea of man-made global warming so appeals to Mikhail Gorbachev who never did anything for the environment when he was in the position to do so. It is as paradoxical as it is revealing that this man who now parades as an angel of ecological salvation is by virtue of his actions at Chernobyl and elsewhere responsible for more environmental destruction than any other person alive.

The case of Mikhail Gorbachev carries an outstanding educational value, because it shows what the global warming alarmism is ultimately about. The glaring deceitfulness and duplicity on display here could well serve as emblems for the whole movement whose real objectives are sharply at variance with its promulgated goals.

We can only regret that President Reagan is no longer around to admonish Gorbachev for his spurious activism in the same way he chastised him for his dictatorial high-handedness by the Berlin Wall. One can almost picture Ronald Reagan standing in Kyoto's main square rebuking this old communist thus:

Mr. Gorbachev, if there is any honesty left in your heart, take off your mask. Do not exploit lies to further your devious agenda. Tell us candidly what your goals are so that we can have an honest debate. Stop erecting those bogus smokescreens and stop scaring the gullible with pseudo-science. Mr. Gorbachev, take off that ugly green mask.

And so should the whole man-made global warming lobby.

Thanks to Senator Joyce for having the guts and perseverance to stand against the tide of climate change lunacy. It's thanks to you and a few others like you that the tide now appears to be turning.

Keep up the good work. I pray the Libs will see sense tomorrow and, for the sake of our great country and its citizens, vote against the ETS which is in fact a diabolical new tax on the fresh air we breathe. The scheme will not change the climate one jot and it will make us all worse off.

The only ones who will benefit from the passing of the scheme will be Kevin Rudd and his cronies, international banks, brokers, consultants and the “scientists” who are on the climate change gravy train.

The climate changes, it always has and it always will and it has nothing to do with man’s activities. The emperor has no clothes, but it’s not the emperor who is going to pay for the invisible clothes. It is us, the citizens of Australia, who will pay.

Dear Barnaby,
All weekend I have been looking for this carbon (solid) thats creating all this pollution, but could not find any. I think they mean carbon dioxide. When I went to high school in the late 1960's, I was taught that plants take in carbon dioxide and give off oxygen. Why don't we plant 20 million or so trees around Australia, and that will solve our problem. It certainly will be cheaper than an ETS. We can send seeds from Australian native trees to China, have them grow the seedlings, and then we can buy the plants from them. Kevin Rudd always wanted to help WORKING CLASS FAMILIES in China. Most of the Governments stimulus packages, have been directed at helping China. I have got a funny feeling this ETS will get through the Senate. You have to understand most of the Liberal Senators bought their Law Degrees from Kmart, so they are airheads without to much commonsense. Next election you have got my families votes (4), you are a genuine passionate Australian, not like these fakes in the Liberal and Labor camps.

Is it true that you and other MPs were told NOT to ask Labour any questions about the ETS, and if you did they would strike it from the parliamentary records? Surely this is more evidence of the Fascists dictatorship of Kevin Rudd and Commie Labour, we must get rid of them. They are doing so much damage to Australia in just 12months, it will take us a long time to recover.

Dear Mr Joyce

It is now 2.31 am on the morning of 1st December 2009 and I have heard your comments this morning on Jim Ball's 2UE talk back programme.

I have been listening with great interest to what you have been saying about the Carbon Emissions Tax (or whatever one wants to call it).

I feel that unless Tony Abbott gets in as leader of the Coalition today, then we probably have no chance of stopping the Emissions Trading Scheme.

Mr Rudd and Ms Penny Wong are doing the wrong thing by the Australian people and in fact their attitudes have been worrying me for a very long time. I feel that Australia is going to be sold out by this Labour Government and unfortunately once they have achieved their goals, then the implications and ramifications of their emissions trading scheme will be set in 'blood' for the rest of all Australian lives.

I am not looking forward to the future under this Government and I feel that they will take Australia into a very dark period for many years to come and beyond.

My heart is very heavy this morning and I have got out of my bed to write this comment on your website.

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your realistic and honest approach to what is happening to our country under Mr Rudd's leadership.

I wish you all the best to you and your family always.

Yours sincerely

Then he was on Lateline quoting from Ian Plimers book and Hadley report , even though he admitted he had not bothered to read either (or IPCC).

The US Congress is going to investigate the "Climategate" emails, why isn't it being discussed in the Australian Parliament? The science is far from settled and our national prosperity is at stake. It has been acknowledged that global temperatures have been cooling when carbon emissions have been increasing so CO2 is obviously not the cause of the previous global warming.

It is such a shame that both the Liberals and Nationals cannot see that they can win a double dissolution election based on climate change and the ETS. All they have to do is use a radical method. It's called the truth. I understand that this would be a new and novel idea for politicians, but if they adopt this method and expose the climate change and ETS arguement for the farce that it is the Australian people will vote against Her Rudd and his dictatorial Labour party. It must be remembered that Labour do not have a mandate from the last election on climate change action. it was for the change of Work Choices and nothing else.

Keep up the hard fight. Those of us with individual thought understand what is happening. It is now time to educate the flocks that are willing to follow the leader off the cliff edge.

Thank you for your stand Barnaby.

I hope its no more ETS = Extra Tax for us Suckers!

As a hard working tax paying Australian citizen looking hard to save and stay out of debt, Labor has forgotten about one thing - the Australian people.

After many years of a global cooling trend, people forgetting that it was hotter in the middle ages, and that Greenland was once green; wow - weather has cycles. And dont forget Mr Gore's inconvenient UNTRUTH.

Look forward to seeing you in a more prominent position representing us hard working Australians.

Thanks Barnaby.

I've already sent this to Senator Fiona Nash, but you also deserve it too:

Thank you Barnaby, for sticking up for the people in the bush! The Nationals should be running this country, because they would do a brilliant job! Believe me there are a lot of people out here that don’t want this ETS, and are grateful that The Nationals are true blue and are trying to prevent this load of rubbish from going ahead.
We all really appreciate what The Nationals are trying to do, so keep it up as the people from the bush applaud you for doing what you do best-being the voice of the bush.

This thing "jimmy g" is an offensive piece of SHIT isn't it?
One wonders if it is even employed.
It is debatable if it is of male or female gender. From the puerile girly bitchy name calling I would surmise GIRL.
Don't you love how these fanatics can't enter into any factual intelligent discussion without resorting to their baser nature?
This attitude speaks for itself!
It is obviously looking for some sense of purpose and belonging in it's pitiful and empty existence. Possibly it may even just be looking for attention.
I suggest that everybody on the blog simply ignores any more comments by this individual in order to deprive it of any satisfaction.
Obviously it has nothing intelligent to add to the discussion, except denigration and besmirching of other people’s reputations!
MORONS LIKE THIS ARE BEST JUST IGNORED!

Upon further reflection, from a legal standpoint, there may even be grounds for suing for defamation, given the comments it made regarding Tony Abbott (jimmy g

Dear Senator Joyce, I refer to the proposed ETS legislation proposed by the Rudd Government. I, as a reasonable Australian am concerned about our environment and our climate. I am also a person who requires reasonable, informed, un-hysterical information about the scientific facts of this proposal.
I urge you and your colleagues to continue the fight of delaying the legislation(tax) until after the Copenhagen summit and until most definitely we as intelligent Australians are informed, so we can make an informed decision also for our children's future.
I have emailed Senator Claire Moore( Labor Qld) and Senator Greg Combe (Labor NSW) re similar sentiments to the above.

These are some of the facts about Abbott - tell me which parts are wrong & by all means let Tony Abbott know (although he seems rather busy at present - he has changed his position on climate change yet again):

When Abbott was 19, whilst deciding whether or not to become a celibate monk, his girlfriend,Kathy Donnelly gave birth to a son (Abbott assumes it was not immaculate conception). Abbott ran off the the priesthood , discovering later that it required too much commitment - sort of like having a child I guess.

In late 2004, it was publicly revealed that this child was Daniel O'Connor, an Australian Broadcasting Corporation sound recordist who worked in Parliament House.

DNA testing later revealed, however, that Abbott was not O'Connor's biological father.

It reads like a "Days of Our Lives" script but it good old Tony's life, the Mad Monk.

"puerile girly bitchy " - strange assortment of words - I guess literacy is not your strong point........is English your second language or perhaps you are not yet 12?

Sure I say things to the point - the idiocy regurgitated about ETS being communist or Nazi or Zionist (all these ludicrous claims are made on this blog) are sad reflections of the mental state of the deniers.

If the Government was serious on Climate change, Econimy and the Job rate!!
Wouldn't it make sence to install Solar panels with the capability to feed back into the grid on all houses. This would reduce Green House Gases create jobs. These changes should be free for existing households and mandatory for new.
Then anyone that wanted to at there expense could add extra panels to the existing and further reduce the green house effects

Ron Shearing - If the Government was serious on Climate change, Econimy and the Job rate!! Wouldn't it make sence to install Solar panels with the capability to feed back into the grid on all houses.

This will be exactly one of the consequences of the ETS - there will be economic rewards for embracing efficient renewable energy. However , instead of the government trying to pick winners (eg giving rebates for some types of solar etc) the market will adjust to what are the most economically effective directions - the ETS will let industries & households make money by embracing efficient technologies.

China is by far the biggest user , per capita , of solar power - it has the worlds biggest solar power station , it is the biggest producer of solar collectors & even tiny Chinese cities , have far more solar collectors than all of Australia put together (China is also the biggest market for wind power generators & nuclear power stations & is using CSIRO developed carbon capture on a thermal power station - it shames Australia)

If you read ETS proposed legislation you will see this use of alternatives is exactly what will be stimulated.

Rudd lies about Iraq invasion
--------------------------------------

"Let's be clear about Howard's reasons for war. In the legal opinion he tabled last March, the only reason canvassed was to eliminate Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. No humanitarian reason was advanced."

- Kevin Rudd, The Australian, February 4, 2004.

The Truth
-------------
"We’re talking about a regime that will gouge out the eyes of a child to force a confession from the child’s parents. This is a regime that will burn a person’s limbs in order to force a confession or compliance. This is a regime that in 2000 decreed the crime of criticising it would be punished by the amputation of tongues. Since Saddam Hussein’s regime came to power in 1979 he has attacked his neighbours and he’s ruthlessly oppressed ethnic and religious groups in Iraq - more than one million people have died in internal conflicts and wars. Some four million Iraqis have chosen exile. Two hundred thousand have disappeared from his jails never to be seen again. He has cruelly and cynically manipulated the United Nations oil-for-food programme. He’s rorted it to buy weapons to support his designs at the expense of the well-being of his people. Since the Gulf War the people of Iraq have not only endured a cruel and despotic regime but they’ve had to suffer economic deprivation, hunger and sickness.

And we should never forget that economic sanctions imposed have had a humanitarian cost. That cost has been made worse by Saddam Hussein’s rorting of the sanctions regime. Those sanctions could have been lifted years ago if Iraq had complied with the requirements of Security Council resolutions about disarmament.
It is too easy to limit, it’s too easy for some people to limit the humanitarian considerations to the consequences of military conflict. In truth there’s nothing easy or reassuring or comfortable about the problem of Iraq. Surely it is undeniable that if all the humanitarian considerations are put into the balance there is a very powerful case to the effect that the removal of Saddam Hussein’s regime would produce a better life and less suffering for the people of Iraq than its continuation."

Rudd lies about Iraq invasion lie
-------------------------------------------
Kevin Rudd believes Mr Howard lied to the Australian people about Saddam having weapons of mass destruction:

"I can’t recall Mr Howard ever admitting he’s made any mistakes on issues like taking our country to war on a lie."

- Kevin Rudd, Interview, March 4, 2007.

The Truth
--------------
Yet Kevin Rudd also told the Australian people that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. He told parliament that Saddam "has invaded his neighbours, in complete violation of international law, and he is in possession of weapons of mass destruction, which in the past he has used against his own people as well as his neighbours. None of these matters are the subject of dispute."

- Kevin Rudd, Hansard, September 17, 2002.

"There is no debate or dispute as to whether Saddam Hussein possesses weapons of mass destruction. He does."

- Kevin Rudd, Lateline, September 24, 2002.

Therefore, if, by Kevin's standard, Mr Howard is a liar, then Kevin Rudd is also a liar by his own standard!

In any case, the Flood Enquiry into Australian intelligence agencies cleared the government of any wrong-doing, so Rudd's accusation of lying is itself a lie.

Rudd lies about Iraq seeking to buy uranium in Africa
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Mr Howard misled the Australian people on Iraq's nuclear program when he said in his pre-war speech to parliament that Iraq had sought to import uranium from Africa."

- Kevin Rudd, The Age, July 7, 2003.

The Truth
----------------
The independent UK Hutton and Butler inquires have concluded intelligence on this matter was 'reasonable' and statements that Iraq had sought uranium from Africa were 'well founded' respectively. The Iraq Survey Group (ISG) report stated:

"In mid—May 2003, an ISG team found an Iraqi Embassy document in the Iraqi Intelligence Service (IIS) headquarters related to an offer to sell yellowcake to Iraq. The document reveals that a Ugandan businessman approached the Iraqis with an offer to sell uranium, reportedly from the Congo."

The Ugandan 'friend' who wanted to arrange the uranium transfer, also said in the letter that:

"...he will do his best to help Iraq and Iraq's regime for Jihad together against our enemy, and he considers supporting the power of Iraq to be his participation which is power for all Muslims, and he feels that his duties are to support and strengthen that power."

Rudd lies about his family's eviction
------------------------------------------------
"I think my father's death was difficult at an early age, being evicted actually was the harder bit because we were share farmers, we didn't own the property so bury Dad one day and get tossed off the property virtually the next with nowhere to go and no assets because you don't own a house if you're a share farmer either."

- Kevin Rudd, Interview with Julia Baird, ABC, March 5, 2006.

"Within two or three weeks of Dad's funeral, we were told we had to go. I can remember the terrible discussion between my mother and the fellow who owned the land."

- Kevin Rudd, The Australian Women's Weekly, January, 2007.

The Truth
--------------
The Low family claim that, far from "evicting" the Rudds, their father went out of his way to accommodate them. Acting as spokeswoman for her sisters, Daphne, Desley and Joyce, and brother Neville, Jill McCahon said:

"He's dragged our father's proud reputation through the mud time and time again. Dad was a caring, compassionate man with terrific family values. What pains us most is the fact that he thought the world of the Rudds...He's taken the Low family for fools. We are now seeking legal advice on the matter."

Long-term Eumundi residents said they had become increasingly mystified at the eviction stories. Daphne Greer knew Aubrey Low most of her life and regularly socialised with the Rudds:

"The Aubrey Low I knew - and the Aubrey Low everyone else around here knew - would never have evicted Margaret Rudd. He was a decent man. The whole tale is bizarre, to say the least."

Mrs McCahon said:

"Since 1956, Bert [Rudd] had been employed as a share farmer and when the monthly milk cheque came in, his wage was half that cheque. Out of his money, his outlay was half the cost of feed for the cattle and any additional labour he may have hired. Other expenses were met by my father. When Bert died our father had no choice but to employ a new farmer. It was the biggest dairy farm on the Sunshine Coast and there were more than 120 cows that needed milking morning and night. Margaret would always have known at some point, inevitably, an incoming farmer would have to occupy the farmhouse. But provisions were put in place by our father for Margaret. He explained to her she could remain on the farm, at no cost whatsoever, until such time as the new farmer arrived. What Kevin has always failed to state is that the new farmer didn't even arrive until July - that's almost six months after his father's death. During that entire time, our family continued to run the farm. There was absolutely no reason for them to have left until the new farmer arrived in July. To continuously say he was evicted immediately after his dad's funeral is quite an unbelievable statement. Not only does he blame our father for the so-called eviction, he subsequently mentions having to sleep rough in a car."

Joyce said:

"My father was caring and compassionate, a wonderful man and I wish he was around to clear this all up. There was an arrangement made ... it [the eviction] didn't happen in the way he [Mr Rudd] said."

Joan Keehn knew Aubrey Low and socialised with the Rudds:

"When these articles began to appear, the older faces around town said 'That can't be right,' " she said. "Aubrey was a good fella, a hard-working family man. He provided for his kids and had a good heart."

Eumundi Rural Fire Brigade's chief officer, Ernie Holt, said:

"[Aubrey Low] worked hard and expected the same from those who worked for him. But above all else he was a good man."

Rudd lies about his front bench selection
-------------------------------------------------------
KEVIN Rudd promised to deliver Labor a new and younger leadership style to defeat the Howard Government. Mr Rudd vowing to pick his own frontbench Team and said he would override factions to select fresh talent, including former Midnight Oil frontman Peter Garrett:

"I intend to get new talent on to the front bench of the Labor party and I've already indicated that Peter Garrett will be part of that new, talented line-up…There'll be others as well, I'm confident of that. I'll be leading the show and when it comes to the outcomes I want, I intend to get them. I don't care if anyone has opposing views – that's what's going to happen."

- Herald Sun, December 5, 2006.

The Truth
--------------
Kevin Rudd's vows and intentions are just plain nonsense, and he knew very well they were plain nonsense when he expressed them.

In reality, Rudd's front bench has not changed much at all. Apart from the departing Kim Beazley and the promotion of recent recruit Peter Garrett, Rudd has brought back former shadow ministers Craig Emerson and Bob McMullan. They can hardly be called "new talent."

Furthermore, far-left faction members, Anthony Albanese, Kim Carr and Kelvin Thompson (before he resigned in disgrace), were retained in the new cabinet. And veterans Simon Crean, Jenny Macklin, and Lindsay Tanner can hardly be described as "new and younger."

Rudd also has to abide by the ALP's strict affirmative action policy and therefore must appoint a particular number of women.

Therefore, Rudd's bold promises to pick his own front bench are, in reality, so laughable that they can only be construed as a deliberate lie to impress the media and public.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Well, Laurie, because I had actually drunk a fair bit, I don't have a completely clear recollection...We can't actually recall anything that you wouldn't see at most pubs across Australia..."
- Interview with Laurie Oakes, Sunday, April 19, 2007.

"Look, what I can recall in terms of the actual venue itself was that not much more than you would see in the last 20 years in certain of the pubs in Australia, I've got to say."
O'Brien: "But...you don't see lap dancing in most pubs in Australia. Can you recall seeing lap dancers performing while you were there?"
Rudd: No, I can't.
- Interview with Kerry O'Brien, 7.30 Report, April 20, 2007

"What I can absolutely recall is that there was nothing inappropriate as far as my behaviour was concerned..."
- Interview with Kerry O'Brien, 7.30 Report, April 20, 2007

"I called Therese, my wife, the next day explained to her what had happened and told her I had been a bit of a goose, and that's the truth of it."
- Interview with Laurie Oakes, Sunday, April 19, 2007

The Truth
--------------
Huh? Most pubs now have lap-dancers? Or is Rudd really insisting he was too blind to see bared breasts?

Scores not only has a spot-lit stage with strippers, it is crawling with women who sit topless with you for a drink and will dance in your lap for dollars. Even Ray Charles would have noticed!

So Kevin was too drunk to remember the strippers, but not too drunk to remember not touching them. How does that work?

While outlining plans for the rest of us to change our lifestyle to lessen carbon dioxide emissions on Melbourne Radio, Rudd admitted driving himself around in a gas guzzling Ford Territory provided on the Government car plan for MPs.

When asked why he didn't drive a Toyota Prius hybrid vehicle, Rudd pretended it was not available through the government plan.

The Truth
--------------
Democrat Senator, Lynn Allison, rang the radio program and pointed out that the Prius was indeed available on the government plan and that she (and several other MPs) had one!

- Courier Mail, April 19, 2007.

Furthermore, according to the assessment of the Federal Government’s Green Vehicle Guide it would be difficult for someone concerned about environmental damage to make a worse choice than the Territory. It rates only 2.5 stars when CO2 emissions, fuel consumption and air pollution are taken into consideration. The Toyota Prius, gets 6 stars. A 15-page policy document labelled A Digital Education Revolution said: "A Rudd Labor Government will revolutionise classroom education by putting a computer on the desk of every upper secondary student...Students will have their own computer and access to the school's extranet and classroom content – both from their desktop and remotely. Rudd distorts the truth about climate change
----------------------------------------------------------------
"Well, can I just say, the science is in. The icecaps are melting, the oceans are rising, temperatures are rising, we have the corals of the Great Barrier Reef beginning to be bleached. These are real environmental consequences now. The environmental case for action now on climate change is real. The economic case for action on climate change is real. The only case against climate change action now is Mr Howard’s political case, because he’s embarrassed by having been asleep at the wheel for 10 years on climate change."

- Kevin Rudd, Doorstep interview, February 2, 2007.

The Truth
--------------
The icecaps are not melting:

Dr. R. M. Carter, professor, Marine Geophysical Laboratory, James Cook University, Townsville, says: "Both the Antarctic and Greenland ice caps are thickening. The temperature at the South Pole has declined by more than one degree C since 1950. And the area of sea ice around the continent has increased over the last 20 years."

Dr./Cdr. M. R. Morgan, FRMS, formerly advisor to the World Meteorological Organization/climatology research scientist at University of Exeter, U.K., says: "From data published by the Canadian Ice Service, there has been no precipitous drop-off in the amount or thickness of the ice cap since 1970 when reliable overall coverage became available for the Canadian Arctic."

- National Post, June 7, 2006.

The oceans are not rising in any meaningful way:

Dr. Chris de Freitas, climate scientist, associate professor, University of Auckland, N.Z.: "I can assure [Mr Rudd] that no one from the South Pacific islands has fled to New Zealand because of rising seas. In fact, if [Rudd] consults the data, he will see it shows sea level falling in some parts of the Pacific."

Dr. Nils-Axel Morner, emeritus professor of paleogeophysics and geodynamics, Stockholm University, Sweden. says: "We find no alarming sea level rise going on, in the Maldives, Tovalu, Venice, the Persian Gulf and even satellite altimetry, if applied properly."

- National Post, June 7, 2006.

Global Temperatures have not risen since 1998 (which was the peak).

Concern over bleached corals is unwarranted.

El Nino caused coral bleaching in 1998, but the reef recovered, as it did again in 2002. Dr Andrew Baker, head of America's Coral Research Laboratory, says bleaching may be how a coral adapts – by expelling one of the algaes that help it thrive to make room for a better one. In fact, Australian geochemist Professor Malcolm McCulloch suggests reefs "could do well in a warmer world" since "warmer ocean temperatures allow expansion of reefs to sub-tropical regions."

Furthermore, Dr. Gary D. Sharp, Center for Climate/Ocean Resources Study, Salinas, California says: "The oceans are now heading into one of their periodic phases of cooling...Modest changes in temperature are not about to wipe them [coral] out. Neither will increased carbon dioxide, which is a fundamental chemical building block that allows coral reefs to exist at all."

- National Post, June 7, 2006.

There are NO environmental consequences now!

"Organisations have been guilty of overplaying the message. There's no evidence to show we're all due for very short-term devastating impacts as a result of global warming; so I think these statements can be dangerous where you mix in the science with unscientific assumptions."

Rudd advocates neo-Marxism
---------------------------------------
"...the other-regarding values of equity, solidarity and sustainability. For social democrats, these additional values are seen as mutually reinforcing because the allocation of resources in pursuit of equity (particularly through education), solidarity and sustainability assist in creating the human, social and environmental capital necessary to make a market economy function effectively."

- Kevin Rudd, The Australian, October 28, 2006.

"I am an old-fashioned Christian socialist."

- Kevin Rudd, Australian Financial Review, February 2003.

Comment
-------------
"Equity through education" means that schools and universities will be dumbed down even more, to the detriment of society in general, and the students (especially the most intellectually gifted ones) in particular.

"Solidarity" is part of the rhetoric of totalitarian collectivism, so Rudd really exposes his Marxist-socialist tendencies here.

"Sustainability" means an authoritarian state run by an elite group of thugs who take money and property from individuals by force and use it in order to reshape society to match their eutopian fantasies and implement their ideological wet-dreams.

Everybody should have a read of this!

Kevin Rudd’s latest lie:

...further delay on climate change equals denial on climate change.

Yes, another disgraceful Rudd lie, unless he’s calling Barack Obama a denier:

Barack Obama acknowledged today that time has run out to secure a binding climate deal at Copenhagen and began moving towards a two-stage process that would delay a legal pact until next year at the earliest.

And unless he’s calling himself a denier, too:

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd says the Government’s emissions trading scheme is being delayed until 2011.

How can anyone believe a single word this liar says?

Do you mean he is a liar such as John Howard who signed Kyoto in 1997 claiming it a “win for the environment and a win for Australian jobs” and promised at the 2007 election “We have established a committee which recommended the introduction of an ETS. And work is well underway to introduce that by 2011. It will be the most comprehensive ETS anywhere in the world.” - all totally supported by the National Party?

Chairman Rudd's Labor Government's hidden agenda is more scary than we think. They appear to be following the 1928 manifesto of The Frankfurt School. A Marxist organisation based in Germany in the 20's and 30's. Mass manipulation and control of the populace....

To further the advance of their 'quiet' cultural revolution - but giving us no ideas about their plans for the future - the School recommended (among other things):

1. The creation of racism offences.
2. Continual change to create confusion
3. The teaching of sex and homosexuality to children
4. The undermining of schools' and teachers' authority
5. Huge immigration to destroy identity.
6. The promotion of excessive drinking
7. Emptying of churches
8. An unreliable legal system with bias against victims of crime
9. Dependency on the state or state benefits
10. Control and dumbing down of media
11. Encouraging the breakdown of the family

Do any of these seem familiar???

Prof Lindzen MIT has proven with hard data that Global Warming is a myth. How will we stop the Liars now?
Professor Richard Lindzen of MIT took 20 years to collect hard scientific data as a meteorologist on Global Warmer's number one claim that as CO2 builds the radiation of Temperature out to space decreases causing a Global Warming. After 20 years of collecting the data the science is in and it proves that all the best guess graphs and science was 360 degrees off. The radiation increases with the higher CO2 levels and the 7 degree temp rise is barely 1 degree. The science of Global Warming a big to do about nothing.

http://scienceandpublicpolicy.org/monthl…

Now with the onset of the Solar Minimum till 2030 and the temperature drop associated with that it is clear for all that Global Warming is not real nor man made.

So how do we stop the liars who wish to sign away our economy and future growth in Global Treaties that do nothing but destroy our economy and reward China and India which will pollute more and more and watch us go down in economic ruin.

Let's start telling everyone who will listen to start and tell Mr. Gore that his money ride is over.

Would you please tell us your plans for the agricultural sector and rural communities of Australia. How are you going to help those whose farms become arid and unproductive? What are you going to do to reduce the frequency of bushfires and floods?

All I've heard you say so far is that the ETS won't do it. What alternative are you proposing? From watching your frantic rants in the Senate tonight, it certainly seems that you are opposed to any action for the sake of it.

And are you proposing we follow the plans of other countries at Copenhagen?

I fear your lack of action will result in many more farming families having to leave their farms than those that would if the current ETS were introduced, simply because you have neglected this issue.

If you are wanting something much more robust than the current ETS, would you please tell us how your proposal will help reduce emissions and slow climate change and the ever-increasing frequency of natural disasters.

You do know that the Unions have gotten together to promote Global Warming and Labour Policy on ETS and to sign the Copenhagen Treaty.
They have a campaign called 'Climate Connectors' where Union Members volunteer to brainwash the work colleagues.

The Unions (all of them, in conjunction with the ACF - Aust. Conservation Foundation - a globalist front) presented Climate Connector workshops, presenting fraudulent pseudo science to it's union members, and told them that instead of doing and upholding what the unions where founded on (ie: protecting workers and jobs), they were 'project managing' communities where the industries would be shut down to counsel them and brainwash them to believe 'new green jobs' will be their saviour. SHAME ON THE UNIONS.

Obviously no one told them or Comrade Rudd and Czar Wong that the green experiment failed in Spain.

Here is the lastest news on the scandal that the ABC’s Jon Faine said was too helpful to “conspiracy theorists” to even report:

Britain’s University of East Anglia says the director of its prestigious Climatic Research Unit is stepping down pending an investigation into allegations that he overstated the case for man-made climate change.

The university says Phil Jones will relinquish his position until the completion of an independent review into allegations that he worked to alter the way in which global temperature data was presented.

Pennsylvania State University is investigating another of the Climategate scientists - Michael “Hockey Stick” Mann.

Here, now, is the latest example of how the Climategate conspiracy suppressed evidence that their data was flawed and faked - which in this case meant temperature rises were exaggerated by not allowing properly for the fact that concreted cities are naturally warmer. Mathametician Douglas Keenan:

Some of the emails leaked in Climategate discuss my work. Following is a comment on that, and on something more important.

In 2007, I published a peer-reviewed paper alleging that some important research relied upon by the IPCC (for the treatment of urbanization effects) was fraudulent. The emails show that Tom Wigley — one of the most oft-cited climatologists and an extreme warming advocate — thought my paper was valid. They also show that Phil Jones, the head of the Climatic Research Unit, tried to convince the journal editor not to publish my paper.

After my paper was published, the State University of New York — where the research discussed in my paper was conducted — carried out an investigation. During the investigation, I was not interviewed — contrary to the university’s policies, federal regulations, and natural justice. I was allowed to comment on the report of the investigation, before the report’s release.

But I was not allowed to see the report. Truly Kafkaesque.

The report apparently concluded that there was no fraud. The leaked files contain the defense used against my allegation, a defense obviously and strongly contradicted by the documentary record. It is no surprise then that the university still refuses to release the report. (More details on all of this — including source documents — are on my site.)

My paper demonstrates that by 2001, Jones knew there were severe problems with the urbanization research. Yet Jones continued to rely on that research in his work, including in his work for the latest report of the IPCC.

If you think the IPCC processes are too strict to be corrupted by such disgraceful practices, let Madhav Khandekar show how a mere typo had the IPCC predicting a melting away of glaciers in 30 years, rather than 350:

Predictably, the IPCC chair Rajendra Pachauri reacted angrily [to Indian research denying warming was melting Himalayan glaciers] citing the IPCC 2007 climate change reports which asserted that the (Himalayan) glaciers are receding faster than in any other part of the world and if the present rate ( of melting) continues, the likelihood of them disappearing by the year 2035 and perhaps even sooner is very high if the earth keeps warming at the current rate. ...

First, where did this number 2035 (the year when glaciers could vanish) come from?

According to Prof Graham Cogley (Trent University, Ontario), a short article on the future of glaciers by a Russian scientist (Kotlyakov, V.M., 1996...). estimates 2350 as the year for disappearance of glaciers, but the IPCC authors misread 2350 as 2035 in the Official IPCC documents, WGII 2007 p. 493!

The scale of this scandal grows greater and more bizarre by the day.

The Global Warming Challenge

Evidence-based forecasting for climate change
Gore proposes new condition on climate forecasting challenge . . . Armstrong accepts and awaits a reply

On June 19, 2007, Professor Armstrong proposed the Global Warming Challenge to Mr. Gore in an effort to stimulate a scientific approach to forecasting climate change. The Challenge asked that Armstrong and Gore each put $10,000 into a Charitable Trust Fund on December 1, 2007. Armstrong bet that over the next ten years he could forecast temperature change more accurately than any climate model that Mr. Gore might nominate. (Armstrong’s forecast would be that global mean temperature would not change over the ten years.)

On July 6, Mr. Gore sent a cordial reply stating that he was too busy. In response, on November 28, 2007, Dr. Armstrong extended the deadline to March 26, 2008, and made the task easier: Mr. Gore was asked merely to provide a checkmark beside a leading climate model and to sign his name.

Mr. Gore’s spokesperson replied on Armstrong’s answering phone on around February 5. The caller apologized for being so late for responding to the November 28 letter. She said, “Senator Gore declines.” No reason was given. She said to call if there were any questions. Attempts to reach her by phone failed despite leaving callback messages. Armstrong then contacted her by email with questions for Mr. Gore:

“You have made dramatic forecasts of a dire future and have asked people to make big sacrifices on the basis of those forecasts. I would be grateful if you would explain:

1. Why are you unwilling to back your forecasts in a challenge intended to promote scientific forecasting of climate change?

2. Under what conditions would you be willing to back your forecasts in a challenge against my forecasts from a simple scientific method that is appropriate in situations of high uncertainty: the naïve “no change” method?”

The spokesperson said that with respect to question #1, “Mr. Gore simply does not wish to participate in a financial wager.” Armstrong responded that it was fine by him and that we could “merely do it for its scientific value.” The spokesperson said that she would ask Mr. Gore. Armstrong asked if Mr. Gore would also respond to question #2.

The second question is of particular importance given that we have not been able to find any scientific forecasts to support global warming –or any that would support negative effects from global warming –or any to support the notion that efforts to reduce man-made CO2 would have a favorable impact on the climate. See Green & Armstrong’s paper “Global Warming: Forecasts By Scientists Versus Scientific Forecasts,” Energy & Environment 18 (2007), 995-1019.

Armstrong said that this is a scientific issue, not a political issue. Opinion polls do not provide a scientific approach in this situation, even when some of the respondents are climate experts. However, procedures do exist that would allow us to make scientific forecasts.

Meanwhile, Professor Armstrong awaits Mr. Gore’s response to the revised challenge.

Africa agrees on secret climate damages demand
==============================

Tue Nov 17, 2009 9:56am EST

• Meles says figures of up to $100 billion discussed

* Three African premiers hammer out position

* Say could accept less than full treaty

By Barry Malone

ADDIS ABABA, Nov 17 (Reuters) - African leaders agreed on Tuesday on how much cash to demand from the rich world to compensate for the impact of climate change on the continent but kept the figure secret ahead of next month's Copenhagen talks.

The United Nations summit in Denmark will try to agree on how to counter climate change and come up with a post-Kyoto treaty protocol to curb emissions.

"We have set a minimum beyond which we will not go," Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, who will represent Africa at the talks, told reporters. "But I am not in a position to tell you what that minimum figure will be."

Exhaustive preparatory talks since 2007 have failed to solve splits between rich and poor countries or find extra funds to help developing nations to pay for expensive technology to ensure they do not over pollute as their economies grow.

"There are many calculations including up to the $100 billion (a year) mark that has been set by some experts. We will be very flexible," Meles said.

Poor nations want rich countries to cut emissions by 40 percent from 1990 levels by 2020. But some in the West complain that such cuts are not realistic, especially so soon after the global economic downturn.

So far, promises by the rich fall short, at cuts of about 11 to 15 percent.

THREATENED WALKOUT

Fearing that the talks may fail, Denmark last week said it would ask world leaders to come for the final two days of the Dec. 7-18 conference to push for a deal at the meeting, originally meant for environment ministers.

Meles -- who has threatened a walkout of the 52 African nations he will represent -- said his priorities at the talks would be to ensure carbon emissions are reduced and to secure a fair yearly compensation amount for Africa.

The Ethiopian leader was speaking in Addis Ababa at a meeting of an African Union (AU) committee of 10 nations charged with agreeing a common position.

Aid workers say a five-year drought, worsened by climate change, is afflicting 23 million people in east Africa, with Ethiopia worst affected.

Kenya's President Mwai Kibaki and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni also attended the last session the AU group will have before next month's talks.

Meles said Africa wanted a treaty to be agreed in Copenhagen but could accept a "binding political agreement" as a steppingstone to a treaty being agreed later.

The Geneva-based Global Humanitarian Forum says poor nations bear more than nine-tenths of the human and economic burden of climate change.

The 50 poorest countries, however, contribute less than 1 percent of the carbon dioxide emissions that scientists say are threatening the planet, it says.

Nations to seek billions in 'climate debt'
========================

CENTRAL American nations will demand $US105 billion ($114.2 billion) from industrialised countries for damages caused by global warming, the region's representatives say.
Central American environment ministers gathered in Guatemala overnight to discuss the so-called "ecological debt" owed to them and to set out a common position ahead of climate talks in Copenhagen next month.

Guatemalan environment minister Luis Ferrate said the $US105 billion ($114.2 billion) price tag was "an estimate" of the damage done by climate change across 16 sectors in Belize, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Panama.

Ferrate minister said the region "had never faced" so much drought, aridity, flooding, and precarious food security.

A formal proposal will be presented in Denmark, officials said.

His Nicaraguan counterpart Juana Arguenal said that Central America would press industrialised countries to reach concrete decisions to reduce "greenhouse" gases at Copenhagen.
"We hope for a deal that is ethical and moral," she said.

Being green gives you a licence to lie
=======================

If the evidence of man-made warming is so clear, why all the wild exaggerations and falsehoods?
Take the latest column of environment writer Fred Pearce in the Guardian (The false claims and unsupported hype are in quotes):
Australia is the “ hottest” and driest continent on Earth. Parts have been embroiled in record drought for the past decade, leaving” reservoirs empty” and “agriculture decimated… “
Aussie scientists were among the first to warn about global warming. Back in 1988, they printed off posters showing” the fin-shaped roof of the Sydney Opera House poking out of a blue sea… “
Either the world adopts tough emissions cuts – in which case demand for Australian coal will shrink and the country will face painful economic reforms to cut its soaring domestic emissions. Or the world fails to come up with tough emissions cuts – in which case, say its scientists,” there is a real risk of the entire nation becoming uninhabitable.”

Greens cling to moral fix
===============

IT NOW SEEMS LIKE IT'S ALL ABOUT MORALS INSTEAD OF SCIENTIFIC FACTS THAT SAY THE EARTH IS COOLING!

FOR an organisation that claims to be committed to tackling climate change, Greenpeace seems strangely suspicious of new technologies designed to do just that.
Last week Britain's Royal Society - one of the most prestigious scientific bodies in the world - published a report arguing that it is "feasible" to "engineer the Earth" in order to offset the worst impacts of climate change.
For example, we might inject a swarm of mirrors into space over the next 30 years to deflect some of the sun's rays from the Earth. Or we could build a "space parasol" made of super-fine aluminium mesh to keep our planet cool. Or we might erect giant "CO2 scrubbers" that would clean the Earth's air on a daily basis.
The Royal Society said there are uncertainties about the effectiveness and the costs of such geo-engineering projects. But many of them are "technically possible", and research funding should be made available immediately.
How did Greenpeace react to the report? It rubbished the whole idea.
Doug Parr, chief scientist at Greenpeace UK, said "intervening in our planet's systems carries huge risks". What's more, it's irresponsible to talk about big solutions to climate change, he said, because the "fossil fuel lobby" will cynically "use the idea of geo-engineering to undermine the emissions reductions we can do safely".
In other words, any discussion of engineering the Earth - of taking big, ambitious and, yes, potentially risky steps to make our planet a cooler and less polluted place - detracts from what Greenpeace considers to be the main goal of environmentalism: forcing people to reduce their CO2 emissions and to learn to live with less.
Greenpeace's hostility to geo-engineering - like its opposition to nuclear power, despite the fact that nuclear is vastly cleaner than coal - is revealing. It suggests that modern-day environmentalism is not a specific and focused campaign to tackle the practical problem of climate change, but rather has become a deeply ideological effort to lower people's horizons and expectations. It is about reshaping our behaviour rather than the planet.
It is striking that the very people who talk about climate change in the most hysterical terms - as a disaster that will make "genocide and ethnic cleansing look like sideshows at the circus of human suffering", in the words of one columnist - are also the people opposed to taking big techno-steps to tackle it.
When, in 2007, the Science Museum in London opened an exhibition on potential geo-engineering solutions to climate change, greens weren't happy. "(I)t is technology that got mankind in its current fix. An even bigger dose of technology is therefore the last thing the planet needs", said one green writer.
Last week's Royal Society's report met with handwringing not only from Greenpeace but also numerous commentators. The Independent said the "overriding priority" should still be to "reduce drastically the amount of carbon dioxide our societies pump into the atmosphere". Others have denounced geo-engineering as a "technical fix" to what is essentially a moral problem: the destruction of Earth by mankind's wanton greed.
This discomfort with geo-engineering reveals that greens do not see climate change as a challenge to be addressed, but rather as physical evidence of mankind's moral turpitude.
They are instinctively opposed to geo-engineering because it would involve humankind exercising yet more control over the planet, and because it might allow us to continue pursuing economic growth, industrial development and city-building without having to worry about any adverse effects on the climate. And it is precisely that - mankind's potentially guilt-free pursuit of progress - which greens are most opposed to.
Worst of all, the focus on geo-engineering would detract from the social engineering that environmentalists are so keen on. If society were to use technology to try to reshape our climate then that would give ordinary people the green light to continue buying, flying and living as they see fit, and from the environmentalists' perspective that simply will not do.
Environmentalism is increasingly a campaign to encourage people to live meeker lives and to realise the error of their greedy ways. And such a movement cannot tolerate any big measures that might allow people to continue consuming and travelling as much as they please.
Indeed, one could be forgiven for thinking that some environmentalists - who, like Al Gore, believe that tackling climate change has provided them with "the exhilaration of a compelling moral purpose" - don't really want climate change to be solved. After all, what would they do with themselves then? Their sense of moral purpose, and moral superiority over the wayward masses, is far more important than the small matter of actually preventing climate change.

Arctic ice proves to be slippery stuff
=======================
The extent of the sea-ice is now half a million square kilometres more than it
===============================================
was this time last year.
==============

BBC viewers were treated last week to the bizarre spectacle of Mr Ban
Ki-moon standing on an Arctic ice-floe making a series of statements so laughable that it was hard to believe such a man can be Secretary-General of the UN. Thanks to global warming, he claimed, "100 billion tons" of polar ice are melting each year, so that within 30 years the Arctic could be "ice-free". This was supported by a WWF claim that the ice is melting so fast that, by 2100, sea-levels could rise by 1.2 metres (four feet), which would lead to "floods affecting a quarter of the world".
Everything about this oft-repeated item was propaganda of the silliest kind. Standing 700 miles from the Pole, as near as the stubbornly present ice would allow his ship to go, Mr Ban seemed unaware that, although some 10 million square kilometres (3.8 million square miles) of sea-ice melts each summer, each September the Arctic starts to freeze again. And the extent of the ice now is 500,000 sq km (190,000 sq m) greater than it was this time last year – which was, in turn, 500,000 sq km more than in September 2007, the lowest point recently recorded (see the Cryosphere Today website). By April, after months of darkness, it will be back up to 14 million sq km (5.4 million sq m) or more.
Mr Ban seems equally unaware that, even if all that sea-ice were to melt, this would no more raise sea-levels than a cube of ice melting in a gin and tonic increases the volume of liquid in the glass. If he is relying for his "100 billion tons" on land ice melting in Antarctica and Greenland, he should note that much of their ice sheets are growing rather than shrinking. His "100 billion tons" is fantasy.
Similarly worthy of the Booker Prize for fiction was WWF's claim that sea levels might rise by four feet (twice the most extreme guess by those UN computer models), let alone the ludicrous claim that this would flood "a quarter of the world". But Mr Ban was indulging in this childish publicity stunt for the same reason the BBC, the Royal Society and others have lately been banging on about various mad schemes for "climate engineering", such as putting up vast mirrors in space to keep out the sun's rays or lining our motorways with artificial trees to suck deadly CO2 out of the air, to be taken away and buried in holes in the ground.
Why are they all going off their heads like this, in emulation of the "projector" that Gulliver met on his travels, in the Academy of Lagado, who had designed a scheme for extracting sunbeams from cucumbers? It is because they are desperately trying to whip up alarm over global warming before December's planned "climate treaty" in Copenhagen, when all evidence suggests that they are not going to get the successor to the Kyoto Protocol they want.
The countries of the developing world, led by China, India, Russia and Brazil, continue to insist that, since global warming is all the fault of the already developed countries of the West, it is up to the West to cut its CO2 emissions by 80 per cent, while the rest of the world is allowed to catch up. Some, such as China, are prepared to make token emission cuts, but only so long as they are compensated by the West to the tune of trillions of pounds a year. As some of the gloomier warmists admit, Copenhagen looks to be a dead duck.
According to Government figures, however, we in Britain are already committed to spending, under the Climate Change Act, £18 billion every year between now and 2050 on this nonsense – daft light bulbs (see below), electricity blackouts and all. In other words, we are only beginning to see some of the nastier consequences of this crazy make-believe, based on nothing more substantial than the kind of gibberish we got last week from Mr "Light Bulb" Ban and the BBC.

Tone down hype on renewable energy
=========================
The economics of the RET wilt under cost-benefit analysis
===================================

STRIPPED of the political grandstanding, Australia's Renewable Energy Target would fail any reasonable cost-benefit test. However much internal warmth the thought of more windmills and solar panels might generate, the cold hard truth is that renewable energy targets have serious economic implications that warrant close scrutiny. Unfortunately, in handing alternative energy companies a subsidised monopoly to supply 20 per cent of our electricity, the RET scheme is unlikely to reduce emissions cost effectively, if at all.

The economics are simple. Given current technology, the electricity generated from renewables will be much more expensive. In May last year, the Productivity Commission calculated that next year, the cost of one megawatt hour of electricity from Australia's vast black coal reserves would be $30-35. Wind power would cost twice as much -- $55 to $80 per megawatt hour. And however scorching the Australian summers, solar power will cost $200 to $400 per megawatt hour.
In practice, the RET scheme will favour technology that has already been developed, such as solar and wind power, compelling government to pick winners and subsidise businesses that would not otherwise hold their own in a competitive market. There is little if any incentive to develop new technologies that might eventually do a better job. The Productivity Commission warns that this is a bad precedent, suggesting "that lobbying for government support for certain technologies and industries over others could be successful". This kind of intervention is costly and often ineffective, as the green car fund fiascos demonstrate. And once given, industry assistance is notoriously difficult to claw back. The mollycoddled car, footwear and textile industries are prime examples.
Some players in the energy industry and analysts are already concerned that the RET scheme excludes alternative low-carbon energy sources such as natural gas, "hot rocks" (geothermal energy drawn from kilometres underground) and nuclear power. In excluding cost-effective available options such as natural gas, the RET scheme is in danger of reducing incentives to abate emissions or innovate in ways that do not meet the eligible technology criteria. That is why the Productivity Commission believes that RET is unlikely to "achieve any additional abatement".
In reality, when the proposed emissions trading scheme passes the Senate either late this year or early next year, with an element of industry assistance, there will be no need for a RET scheme. By its nature, a market-driven cap and trade system will encourage industry users to seek low-carbon energy at the best prices. Through subsidies to wind and solar power firms, the RET will distort the market.
Faced with higher power bills from the renewable energy target, consumers will ask: what's the point? The answer lies in a failure of the political class. On both sides, politicians are eager, however tokenistic their efforts, to appear environmentally friendly.
No one should be fooled by the promise of 28,000 RET-inspired "green" jobs in the next decade. A recent study by King Juan Carlos university has exposed similar claims in Spain where for every "green" job created from renewable energy in Spain, two others were lost.
Australians are fast wising up to the limited benefits of feel-good green stunts that do nothing to reduce atmospheric carbon. Last weekend, the AFL foisted a "green round" on footy fans with umpires in green jerseys waving green flags. The RET makes about as much sense.

Here’s a practical way to understand Mr. Rudd’s Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme.
Imagine 1 kilometre of atmosphere and we want to get rid of the carbon pollution in it created by human activity.

Let’s go for a walk along it.
The first 770 metres are Nitrogen.
The next 210 metres are Oxygen.
That’s 980 metres of the 1 kilometre. 20 metres to go.
The next 10 metres are water vapour. 10 metres left.
9 metres are argon. Just 1 more metre.
A few gases make up the first bit of that last metre.
The last 38 centimetres of the kilometre - that’s carbon dioxide. A bit over one foot.
97% of that is produced by Mother Nature. It’s natural.
Out of our journey of one kilometre, there are just 12 millimetres left. Just over a centimetre - about half an inch.
That’s the amount of carbon dioxide that global human activity puts into the atmosphere.
And of those 12 millimetres Australia puts in .18 of a millimetre.
Less than the thickness of a hair. Out of a kilometre!
As a hair is to a kilometre - so is Australia’s contribution to what Mr. Rudd calls Carbon Pollution.
Imagine Brisbane’s new Gateway Bridge, ready to be opened by Mr. Rudd. It’s been polished, painted and scrubbed by an army of workers till its 1 kilometre length is surgically clean. Except that Mr. Rudd says we have a huge problem, the bridge is polluted - there’s a human hair on the roadway. We’d laugh ourselves silly.

Mr Joyce,

I wanted to write and congratulate you in your efforts to speak out against the public’s delusion on global warming. I’ll be the first to admit I’m not a scientist. But like yourself, felt compelled to engage in my own research and analysis on the topic. I can certainly smell a rat in the media’s blatant pro-global warming stance. The media should provide a platform for open debate by both sides, it is important to understand that this is what we should be aiming to acheive here. The reality is that this Global Warming scam was cooked up as an attempt to solidify global co-operation under supra-national bodies of money power bureaucracy. Global Government is on the agenda here, the Global warming scam and the coming global sovereign debt crisis will of course require ‘global solutions’.

I am a derivatives trader and have worked for Lehman Bros, Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan. I have worked for the very same banksters who are behind the whole carbon trading scam, i know exaclty how they operate. You don’t have to be a genius to realise what is going on here. We are looking down the barrel of the collapse of the entire global monetary system within the space of the next 3 years. This is a fact and can be proven, there is a growing community of professional traders and economists who understand this as fact. Once again, as with Global warming, the mainstream media has lead the herd astray with their story of recovery. The coming collapse will result in global currency crisis and sovereign debt default, laying the foundation for further global co-operation. Global Currency, Global Central bank, Global Government tyranny here we come!

Senator Christine Milne used some irrelevant analogy of Orwell’s 1984 in describing the ‘climate deniers’ position in the senate today. How ironic that she herself has fallen directly into Orwell’s trap.

Well done, keep up the good work.

Bombshell UN Documents Outline Plan To Use Climategate Crooks In “End Run” Around National Sovereignty

THE GOAT IS BACK !

Shocking newly uncovered UN strategy documents reveal how elitists are recruiting members of academia from all over the globe in an effort to hide the “end-run” around national sovereignty that their agenda represents, emphasizing how the climategate crooks who were recently caught manipulating scientific data in order to “hide the decline” in global warming are working with the United Nations in the pursuit of a world government justified by the global warming fraud that they are helping to perpetrate.
One of the planning papers, entitled “The UNEP That We Want,” was produced by a specially selected group of influential environmental bureaucrats and delivered to the UNEP Executive Director Achim Steiner.
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the regulatory body that established the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the politicized organization that has attempted to slam the lid shut on global warming skepticism by claiming it is the supreme authority, despite the fact that scientists used by the IPCC were caught manipulating data and conspiring to hide evidence of global cooling during the climategate scandal.
The IPCC has attempted to deny the gravitas of climategate by claiming that it has no bearing on their conclusions about global warming, despite the fact that scientists at the University of East Anglia used intimidation and academic witch hunts to ensure that data they didn’t agree with politically was blocked from appearing in the IPCC’s fourth assessment report, which was published in 2007.
Participants who contributed to the first UNEP document included Janos Pasztor, currently head of the team pushing U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s unprecedented Seal the Deal lobbying campaign to pressure U.N. member governments into signing a new environmental agreement at Copenhagen, Dominic Waughray, currently head of environmental initiatives at the World Economic Forum; and Maria Ivanova, and Bulgarian academic Maria Ivanova, director of the Global Economic Governance Project at the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy.

The first document is very similar to a second UNEP paper entitled, “ Proposed Medium Term Strategy 2010-2013.”

Climate Change Ringleader Phil Jones to Step Down

REMEMBER THIS GUY ...

CRU’s Phil Jones will step down from his position as director of the unit that cooked climate change data to hide global cooling. Britain’s East Anglia University says Jones will relinquish his position until the completion of an independent review.
The CRU scandal emerged after anonymous persons gained access to 160 MB of emails and source code. It is uncertain if the evidence implicating Jones and the CRU came from hackers or whistle-blowers.
Lord Monckton, the third Viscount Monckton of Brenchley and adviser to Margaret Thatcher’s policy unit in the 1980s, went on the Alex Jones Show last week and called from criminal prosecution of Jones and his crew of climate change fraudsters.
In a blog entry posted prior to talking with Alex Jones, Monckton noted how Phil Jones and his co-conspirators “have refused, for years and years and years, to reveal their data and their computer program listings.”
Phil Jones and the CRU have stonewalled FOIA requests demanding access to the data. It is alleged he destroyed evidence in an effort to cover-up the fraud.
On Sunday, the Times Online reported that scientists at the University of East Anglia admitted throwing away much of the raw temperature data on which their predictions of global warming are based. The CRU was forced to reveal the loss following requests for the data under Freedom of Information legislation.
On Saturday, the University of East Anglia said that 95% of the CRU climate data set concerning land surface temperatures has been made available to the public for “several years” and that all data will be released as soon as they are clear of non-publication agreements.
Phil Jones told the science journal Nature that he was working to make the data publicly available with the agreement of its owners but this was expected to take some months.

Hint : if you just mindlessly cut & paste what others have written , spend a few mintes checking if it true or just more scientifically illiterate drivel.
Your claim that 97% of atmospheric CO2 is of natural origin is nonsense - the CO2 levels have increased from around 280ppm to around 385 ppm in last 100 years due to burning fossil fuels . How do we know : from the changes in atmospheric C12: C13 & C12 : C124 ratios (which cannot be caused by volcanos etc)
The science is wonderful & elegant , such as the science about why , with increasing temperatures , sea ice coverage increases.
But for the lazy, the ignorant & manipulating , science is a threat to their biggoted world view.

Thanks for playing.........next time , complete high school

Late author Michael Crichton warned of global warming’s dangerous parallels to eugenics

Best-selling author Michael Crichton became a noted critic of the highly-politicized ‘global warming’ agenda before his death in 2008. What has now shifted into the “climate change” issue was a central theme in his 2004 novel State of Fear.

Crichton warns that ‘global warming’– which has become both a cause célèbre and a supposed moral imperative– not only has “little basis in fact or science” but compromised by political advocacy and a ‘quest for power.’
That fatal flaw for the global warming agenda is, for Crichton, paralleled by one of history’s ‘cautionary tales’– that of the Eugenics movement. The dangers of a political agenda parading under the cover of a scientific pretext have already been exposed by the agendas of the past, and that cost can be measured in human lives lost.

On Eugenics, Crichton states that “the actions taken in the name of theory were morally and criminally wrong. Ultimately, they led to the deaths of millions of people.” Eugenics, like the Climate Change, Global Warming and Population Control agendas all sought to control human behavior in the name of curbing a crisis based on everyday human activity– human breeding, human consumption, human competition for food and other resources, and the very air humans breath– humanity was pegged as the problem, and people were killed as a result of politically-advocated action to meet the crisis.

Yet in hind-sight, each of these ecological-crises has proved to stand on shaky factual ground and misplaced, but often well-meaning, concern. Such good intentions have indeed paved the way to hell– including the genocide of ‘undesirable’ human existence.
The alarm bells sounded by Al Gore and his ilk may come with a price– a loss of sovereignty to global treaties, restricted human behavior and a negative, or disposable, view of human life. The fudged data of CRU researchers who, ClimateGate emails show, sought to “hide the decline” global temperatures is yet another indicator of a movement gone wrong and quickly spiralling out of control. For humanity’s sake, we cannot lose sight of what the truth really is when we are coaxed into a ’state of fear’ to accept totalitarian and sometimes genocidal solutions.

Below are excerpts from Crichton’s State of Fear essay warning of the parallels to eugenics:

Rudd advocates equality of opportunity
========================
"We believe radically in equality of opportunity, that is that every kid from every working family has a decent start in life."

- Kevin Rudd, The Age, December 14, 2006.

Comment
========
Kevin Rudd believes opportunities are not fairly distributed, and those with more wealth and power have many more and better opportunities. Therefore, they want government authorities to take control and ensure that there is a level playing field and that everyone receives the same opportunities. Although this may seem a reasonable step to take, it is ultimately a fundamental denial of reality. Power and wealth are not the only factors that result in more and better opportunities. A person’s basic intelligence (usually a derivative of their parents’ intelligence), their family life and upbringing, their place of residence (country, state or region), their native language, their religion and/or system of values, their emotional and psychological makeup, their physical appearance (stature, beauty, and physical strength), all contribute significantly to the number and kinds of opportunities available to each person. No amount of interference can change these realities. A smart beautiful person will always have more and better opportunities than a simple unattractive person. The only other options are to tear down those with natural advantages by somehow destroying those advantages, or by launching a program of eugenics where every person born has the same genetic characteristics. Such options, however, are clearly horrific, not to mention fundamentally unjust.

I do recall a time in the past when people were constantly ridiculed, and subseqently tortured and murdered.

A time that recurred under the Spanish Inquisition, the Nazi tyranny, under Stalin, under Mao, under Pol Pot, in Rwanda.

So when Greg Combet starts throwing such insults and heretical language at me and others who merely disagree with his madcap theory, I know that he and his like are bad, bad, bad.

It’s the left - they hate western civilisation, they hate not having control, they hate freedom, they hate democracy. And the simple phrase ‘we must do something to save the planet’ is a leave pass for the left to emulate the Spanish Inquisitoin, the german Nazis, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot and the Rwandan genocide murderers.

This is a fight that freedom can’t afford to lose!

To the fake scio : "for the left to emulate the Spanish Inquisitoin, the german Nazis, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot and the Rwandan genocide murderers"

WTF???? At least try to spell correctly - or is English your second language?
I seem to recall right wing nutcases like Bolt, Schultz , Minchin throwing around phrases such as Nazis , Communists & similar nonsense to describe the ETS (but of course these hypocrites didnt apply it to Howards ETS or when Howard signed Kyoto in 1997 claiming a "“win for the environment and a win for Australian jobs") - these are only bad if a Labor government takes the initiative

Interesting how Abetz set up Turnbull to look stupid over the fake Gretch emails then was one of the first to backstab him - the extreme right wing are so good at that - remember Kristallnacht?

If you are so obsessed with Nazis , did you ever read Martin Luthers little book "on the Jews and Their Lies" - Hitler drew such great stimulation from the founder of Protestantism

But dont let me spoil you infantile myths with facts

Game on Barnaby; now you need to target those climate alarmists who have betrayed their own electorates, particularly in marginal seats. Look no further than Marles (Corio) and Cheeseman (Corangamite) who have betrayed the industrial region of Geelong, Cheeseman with his alarmist "rising sea level" threat and Marles with his speech in Parliament last June where he announced (as though it was absolute indisputable fact), that "...climate change was here and we humans are responsible for it..." but that we in the "carbon dependent" city of Geelong were just going to have suffer and deal with the ETS consequences. Hello All,

I recently heard about a Documentary mentioned on a talk back radio show titled “Fall Of The Republic” by Alex Jones.

I managed to download a copy for myself using Bittorrent. It was around 1.3GB

It deals with President Obama, what is happening in the United States regarding new world order and global warming.

It is extremely enlightening and parallels can be drawn with our current politics in Australia in relation to Labor’s policies and Mr Turnbull.

Let me tell you it reveals highly disturbing and frightening events which seem to be taking place on a global scale!

I would urge you to download a copy for yourself and watch it ASAP!

Alex Jones has a website:-

As I say very alarming and certainly something which people should be made aware of ASAP.

Mr Joyce,
Thankyou, on behalf of non-gullible aussies for rejecting the ETS and putting that wong imbecile back in her place!

When skeptics are challenged, they can produce scientific facts and holes in IPCC methodology.
When alarmists are challenged, they simply respond with 'extremists' or 'deniers' etc - not once have I seen a govt minister refer to any science other than 'IPCC said it was so'.

The media in this country is a joke - Is anyone going to question the dodgy science? Might be labled a nazi if you so, the way things are going!

Listened to you tonight on ABC TV. Tend to agree with you. I've listened to and read scientists discovering the workings of the natural environment for 35 - 40 years. My conclusion: it's better to work with nature than against it. It's definitely time to consider less of the Trading (less fishing, less consumerism, less plunder of the earth) and more of how to enjoy keeping the balance that makes life on earth pleasant.
LESS EMISSIONS, LESS TRADING and LESS SCHEMING I say!
I think it's outrageous that some people are led to believe that the ETS will fix any climate change. It's a scam drawing on fear and emotion. I find it hard to get information about this ETS proposal..... all I hear is the argument about being either a sceptic or a believer. It would be good to shift the argument with some facts about what the ETS is and what the proposed changes are.

The only thing that is dead Barnaby Joyce is your career. Australian politics is already full of enough dinosaurs without you putting your two cents worth in. Sit down shut up before you get get thrown out. Your policies and your uninformed and uneducated followers are dead wrong and I won't even waste my energy trying to educate you because your generation is on the way out and the youth of the world will see this planet good. I'm hopeful. P.S: your ignorant. Is it not too much to ask a politician to check the science behind a policy before deciding on it. I've come to expect not a lot in recent years. I wonder.

Why Why are there so many ignorant Australians. We are a rich country. Have any of your supporters ever travelled to a developed country. Do they know the difference between living with less 0.1% GDP and living in India, Africa, South America in poverty. I really want to meet these Australian beggers who can complain about such a small increase in costs for the just and moral use of energy in Australia in the future. Whereby the only blockage to the equality of energy price is the difference between the funding the Australian government gives to the Mining (Coal ) Industries and the money they could be giving renewable technologies such as SOLAR, BIOMASS, WAVE, WIND, GEOTHERMAL (HDR), and others. NON renewable resources are called that for a reason. Look up intergenerational equity and think of your children and let go of your greedy human tendancies.

Senator Joyce:

I don't think you should accept a move to the front bench and become a member of the Shadow Cabinet.

The Liberals will expect you to toe their particular line. They will use you to win the next election, and then kick you to the kerb.

It may seem like a good offer, but I think you (and we) would be better off if you just continued representing Queensland in the Senate.

The Liberals who don't want an ETS can join the National Party. This is what I think will end up happening anyway.

Gee, there are some nasty comments coming in here - particularly from men.

Don't you guys know that they expect us to contribute $55 billion EVERY YEAR to the third world?

We have 100,000 people living on the streets in Queensland alone, due to lack of infrastructure spending on Health and Housing.

Doesn't anyone care that we have a gross foreign debt of $1.2 trillion (and climbing). Until our nation is out of debt (and I'm not sure how that could happen), we should not be looking at contributing huge sums of money to other nations.

Unless of course you people are willing to give the huge corporations all of our $1.1 trillion in superannuation savings, that are supposed to support us in our old age? Well, are you???

Remember 20% of your super has already been stolen, with Rudd giving the very banks that have ripped you off a golden handshake of taxpayers' money as a reward for taking it!

I heard Rudd was planning to collect a Bank (Superannuation) Bailout Tax in anticipation of the next golden handshake. If this isn't a clear indicator that the corporations will be back to take another double whammy, I'd certainly like to know what is.

Please put your science books away, and your thinking caps on, before it is too late!

Well are you????

As a young mother, I am very concerned that you continue to use the phrase "the majority of australians" when discussing your views on climate change and the ETS. You are not speaking for the majority of australians Mr Joyce, you are speaking for yourself and for the minority. The majority of Australians want action on climate change and we want it now! I have watch the Great Barrier Reef die over the last 20 years as a local. My children will never be able to wade in off the beach and snorkel above beautiful coral the way i did as a child. It has long died and retreated. People understand that we need to pay to support climate change to occur and for people to change their ways. - and so we should. I'm not asking you to change your mind, as you are obviously very passionate about your view. I am asking you to stop saying you are speaking for the majority of australians - because you are not.

To Sarah (above comment)

Most Australian care about the environment and are concerned about pollution. Unfortunately, this good will, YOUR goodwill and mine has been exploited by people with vested interests. We would all like to have the government facilitate good management of our natural resources and environment but an ETS is really not the way.

Do you understand how the ETS (cap and trade) work?
Do you know there are as many people for as against this type of system?
Do you know that this ETS, once in place is irreversible?

Dear Barnaby,

Why is it that you can't accept what the scientists say. What about the Copenhagen Diagnosis. Have you read it?

One day you will have to accept that we are responsible. The science is too strong to be denied.

The problem is that by the time you accept what is happening, ti is likely it will be too late. The science is telling us to act before we see the threats being realised. This is very hard for humans to do, we usually 'react' rather than avoid.

Being in denial is an all too human thing, but some time we all have to wake up. Try to wake up Barnaby. Take another look at the depth of the evidence.

Dear Barnaby

I hope that the LNP can take the lead to put forward a rapid and far-reaching program to reduce greenhouse emissions.

Australia's chief scientist, Penny Sackett (chiefscientist.gov.au) states in an interview with ABC's Sabra Lane that we have JUST 6 YEARS TO REVERSE INCREASING CO2 EMISSIONS if we are to avoid global temperatures rising more than 2deg. and the "dangerous" and "difficult" risks associated with this (see also Melbourne Herald Sun, 3 Dec)

In Melbourne the effects of global warming are already being felt, with hotter summers and prolonged drought. As an example this November had average daily maximum and daily minimum temperatures about 6-7 deg above the long term average - and this isn't a one-off most months are noticeably above the long term average.

the great majority of climate scientists around the world emphasise the urgency of the situation.

Of course we would all be really glad to hear of REAL evidence demonstrating that global warming isn't an urgent problem - but unfortunately there isn't any

(I think it's really important that the LNP do a thorough review of the climate science, including expert critique's of those who have cherry-picked data to put forward false arguments that global warming isn't occurring / isn't a problem.)

To this Jasmine poster:-

I love your comment " I was looking forward to paying extra money"
YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!
Did you suddenly get I PAY RISE?
I DIDN'T!
JUST LISTEN TO YOURSELF!
STUPIDITY PERSONIFIED!
Do you even know where your extra tax will be going?
NOT TO AUSTRALIA, BUT THE UN!
The companies that remain in Australia & have to pay this ETS(Employment Termination Scheme/Extra Tax System) will simply pass the extra cost of doing business onto the consumer!
THAT'S YOU!
How will that affect the weather?

AND YOUR OTHER COMMENT ""At least in the dark ages people did not use electricity""
You IGNORAMUS!
So YOU would advocate that our standard of living was brought back to the DARK AGES?
Maybe YOU should set an example and stop using electricity if you feel so strongly!
Nobody is stopping YOU!
Maybe YOU should stop and think more deeply before you speak !

No Surprises as 48 Third World Commonwealth Countries Support “Climate Change” Payouts — TO THEMSELVES
==============================================

December 1, 2009 by APP News | Print this post

It was no surprise at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) when 48 Third World nations enthusiastically agreed to the First World paying them out billions for so-called “climate change” damage.

The $10 billion fund — taken directly from taxpayers in First World nations — is supposed to allow these Third World nations to “build defences against flooding” and to “reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.”

The CHOGM also unanimously agreed to seek a legally binding international agreement for this ongoing swindle and called for what they described as the “strongest possible outcome” at next month’s climate change summit in Copenhagen.

It was announced at the CHOGM meeting that the quite-mistakenly called “global fund” (it is not “global,” but First World only) fund is aimed at distributing “money from rich countries to the developing countries to help them adapt and pay for low-carbon alternatives.”

In other words, it is little more than yet another First World guilt trip, this time imposed by interest groups whose scientific premise is increasingly being challenged by large numbers of dissenting scientists and specialists from across the globe.

A partial list of these scientists and their conclusions follows:

* Timothy F. Ball, former Professor of Geography, University of Winnipeg, has produced research which says that “[The world's climate] warmed from 1680 up to 1940, but since 1940 it’s been cooling down. The evidence for warming is because of distorted records. The satellite data, for example, shows cooling.

“Temperatures declined from 1940 to 1980 and in the early 1970’s global cooling became the consensus. … By the 1990’s temperatures appeared to have reversed and Global Warming became the consensus. It appears I’ll witness another cycle before retiring, as the major mechanisms and the global temperature trends now indicate a cooling.”

* Robert M. Carter, geologist, researcher at the Marine Geophysical Laboratory at James Cook University in Australia: “the accepted global average temperature statistics used by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change show that no ground-based warming has occurred since 1998 … there is every doubt whether any global warming at all is occurring at the moment, let alone human-caused warming.”

* Vincent R. Gray, coal chemist, founder of the New Zealand Climate Science Coalition: “The two main ’scientific’ claims of the IPCC are the claim that ‘the globe is warming’ and ‘Increases in carbon dioxide emissions are responsible’. Evidence for both of these claims is fatally flawed.”

* Antonino Zichichi, emeritus professor of nuclear physics at the University of Bologna and president of the World Federation of Scientists: “Models used by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) are incoherent and invalid from a scientific point of view”. He has also said, “It is not possible to exclude that the observed phenomena may have natural causes. It may be that man has little or nothing to do with it.”

* Khabibullo Abdusamatov, mathematician and astronomer at Pulkovo Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences: “Global warming results not from the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, but from an unusually high level of solar radiation and a lengthy – almost throughout the last century – growth in its intensity. Ascribing ’greenhouse’ effect properties to the Earth’s atmosphere is not scientifically substantiated…Heated greenhouse gases, which become lighter as a result of expansion, ascend to the atmosphere only to give the absorbed heat away.”

* Sallie Baliunas, astronomer, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics: “[T]he recent warming trend in the surface temperature record cannot be caused by the increase of human-made greenhouse gases in the air.”

* George V. Chilingar, Professor of Civil and Petroleum Engineering at the University of Southern California: “The authors identify and describe the following global forces of nature driving the Earth’s climate: (1) solar radiation …, (2) outgassing as a major supplier of gases to the World Ocean and the atmosphere, and, possibly, (3) microbial activities … . The writers provide quantitative estimates of the scope and extent of their corresponding effects on the Earth’s climate [and] show that the human-induced climatic changes are negligible.”

* Ian Clark, hydrogeologist, professor, Department of Earth Sciences, University of Ottawa: “That portion of the scientific community that attributes climate warming to CO2 relies on the hypothesis that increasing CO2, which is in fact a minor greenhouse gas, triggers a much larger water vapour response to warm the atmosphere. This mechanism has never been tested scientifically beyond the mathematical models that predict extensive warming, and are confounded by the complexity of cloud formation – which has a cooling effect. … We know that [the sun] was responsible for climate change in the past, and so is clearly going to play the lead role in present and future climate change. And interestingly… solar activity has recently begun a downward cycle.”

* David Douglass, solid-state physicist, professor, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Rochester: “The observed pattern of warming, comparing surface and atmospheric temperature trends, does not show the characteristic fingerprint associated with greenhouse warming. The inescapable conclusion is that the human contribution is not significant and that observed increases in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases make only a negligible contribution to climate warming.”

* William M. Gray, Professor Emeritus and head of The Tropical Meteorology Project, Department of Atmospheric Science, Colorado State University: “This small warming is likely a result of the natural alterations in global ocean currents which are driven by ocean salinity variations. Ocean circulation variations are as yet little understood. Human kind has little or nothing to do with the recent temperature changes. We are not that influential.

“I am of the opinion that [global warming] is one of the greatest hoaxes ever perpetrated on the American people. So many people have a vested interest in this global-warming thing—all these big labs and research and stuff. The idea is to frighten the public, to get money to study it more.”

These and a range of additional referenced comments and conclusions can be seen here.

Despite this, and the recent leaking of a large number of documents which show that climate change proponents in Britain falsified data to prove their case, the great handout of taxpayers’ cash to the Third World seems set to continue at the Copenhagen Summit next month.

Fortunately, there will be at least one voice of sanity at the Copenhagen Conference: British National Party leader Nick Griffin will be attending as part of the EU delegation.

“Those who warn of the consequences of climate change had reached an Orwellian consensus not based on scientific agreement, but on bullying, censorship and fraudulent statistics,” Mr Griffin said in a speech in the EU parliament last week.

“The anti-western intellectual cranks of the left suffered a collective breakdown when communism collapsed. Climate change is their new theology… But the heretics will have a voice in Copenhagen and the truth will out. Climate change is being used to impose an anti-human utopia as deadly as anything conceived by Stalin or Mao.”

*The full list of Commonwealth countries who welcomed the cash handouts are as follows:

Antigua and Barbuda; Bahamas; Bangladesh; Barbados; Belize; Botswana; Brunei; Cameroon; Dominica; Gambia; Ghana; Grenada; Guyana; India; Jamaica; Kenya;

Kiribati; Lesotho; Malawi; Malaysia; Maldives; Malta; Mauritius; Mozambique; Namibia; Nauru; Nigeria; Pakistan; Papua New Guinea; Rwanda; Saint Kitts and Nevis; Saint Lucia; Saint Vincent and the Grenadines; Samoa; Seychelles; Sierra Leone; Singapore; Solomon Islands; South Africa; Sri Lanka; Swaziland; Tanzania;

Tonga; Trinidad and Tobago; Tuvalu; Uganda; Vanuatu; and Zambia.

* It will be noted that Mozambique is also a Commonwealth nation member, despite never having been a British colony.

CLIMATEGATE PROFESSOR REDUCED TO OBSCENE ABUSE IN LIEU OF INTELLIGENT DISCUSSION

That rather tells its own story. He couldn't handle the truth of what was being said

A professor who is accusing global warming skeptics of engaging in "tabloid-style character assassination” of scientists, called an American climate skeptic “an assh*le” on the December 4, 2009 live broadcast of BBC's Newsnight program. “What an assh*le!” declared Professor Watson at the end of the contentious debate with Climate Depot's executive editor Marc Morano. A clearly agitated Watson had earlier shouted to Morano “will you shut up.”

The remark was broadcast live on BBC and prompted an on-air apology to viewers from the BBC later in the program for the offensive language.

Watson (Email: a.watson@uea.ac.uk) is a professor at the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia, which was the source of the disclosed files. Watson's emails appear in the hacked Climategate files.

During the live debate, Morano challenged Professor Watson for being in “denial” over the importance of Climategate and noted that “you have to feel sorry for Professor Watson.”

“[Watson's] colleague, [Professor] Mike Hulme at the University of East Anglia is saying this is authoritarian science, he is suggesting the [UN] IPCC should be disbanded based on what Climategate reveals," Morano said.

"[UK environmentalist] George Monbiot is saying many of his friend in the environmental and the climate fear promoting business -- as Professor Watson is part of -- are in denial. You have to feel sorry for Professor Watson in many ways here,” Morano explained.

A clearly agitated Watson blurted out “Will you shut up just a second!?”

Morano summed up his views on what ClimateGate reveals during the debate. “It exposes the manufactured consensus. Your fellow colleagues are saying this,” Morano said to Watson.

"Today, twenty one years later, the excitement has been replaced by sadness and foreboding. The situation is much worse. The clock is ticking away much closer to “midnight” and the collective political will to address the problem has all the appearance of a shambles. "

Dear Grant

There is so much I would like to say to you but time forbids. There is no clock and there is no ticking AND there is no problem. It doesn't take much nouse to work out the stuff we breathe out CO2 is not a pollutant. Now here is the biggie for you. The Creator of this earth lets just for the hell of it call him God eh. knew what he was doing and he done it. I know that in this day and age that is hard to comprehend but hey he did. If you want a plan of salvation for the earth perhaps you should look to its designer ( I know I'm sounding ridiculous eh ) but I must continue, just for the hell of it. His name is Jesus, the problem aint C02 the problem is sin. I know that's foreign to some, but its stuff like . Thou shalt not kill , steal, covet, etc etc but hey they are just a bunch of ideas thrown about from a bunch of right wing extremists Like Moses. .So lets just chuck em all out the window and replace em with thy shall not produce carbon emissions. You can kill. steal, covet, but for goodness sake don't create what comes natural by breathing C02.

Now I have to beg your forgiveness here, for the insult that is coming. I honestly didn't think you were that STUPID.

If coal fired power stations (mainly overseas) are contributing so much to global warming, why not place an export tax on coal (so much per ton) and use the tax to subsidize uranium exports. The would motivate overseas customers to switch to nuclear power.

Dear Senator,

We congratulate you upon your recent appointment to the front bench in the Federal Opposition. As mentioned it has provided a level of ascendency not only with regard to defeating the ETS but hopefully other significant issues.

Despite the continuing revelations regarding the failed Copenhagen talkfest on global warming/climate change, the failed attempt to set up a world (socialist type) government via a proposed Treaty we have now been informed that the Rudd Labour government having already lost face on this issue will proceed to re-introduce this massive tax (ETS).
Lord Monckton in his most recent visit to this country is endeavouring to inform the people of the repercussions that it will have upon ordinary people.

Every effort should be made to support his efforts.

In conclusion, not only is this proposed ETS to be stopped, but most importantly every effort must be made to dislodge this Rudd Labour government before it creates more damage to the Australian fabric.

Yours sincerely, Don Readford for and onbehalf of many others.
